Brief Profile:
My undergraduate research background is in ecology (I worked with insects) and I applied to most schools for MSTPs. I am hoping to do research on the epidemiology of vector borne infectious diseases as part of the MD/PhD training or an MD/MPH depending on how the applications turn out. As my background and desired research are both non-traditional as far as MSTPs go, I don\'t really know what to expect.
ECs Research, Volunteering, TAing etc. Will update later.

Summary of Experience:
Applied to the JMP program...no interview though
Summary of Experience:
Did they take out of state people this year? The \"we received your application\" email was followed two hours later by a rejection email saying my application \"was thoroughly reviewed by a member of the committee\" This was absolute bull@*%#. The emails came at 2 and 4 AM. A computer can tell what state you are from. A great vector borne illness research center though!
Summary of Experience:
MD and MSTP rejection. I had hope for an interview since I\'m working at the public health school in epidemiology this year ...but no love.
Summary of Experience:
Meh didn\'t expect much as an out of stater and couldn\'t afford a second trip to the west coast (after stanford) if I were offered an interview any way.
Summary of Experience:
My feelings on Michigan...understandably bitter but still... I like that they are open about interview numbers and such, but that does not justify taking the meaning of rolling and applying early to a whole new level. Another of my top choices for MSTP but after being under review for a while by and later rejected from the MSTP, there were almost no MD interview spots left when my application was transferred! I would definitely have considered MD only here but whatever.
Summary of Experience:
Quickest rejection for MSTP. I knew my interests would not jive well with the goals of their \"tri institutional MD/PhD\" program.
Summary of Experience:
MD/PhD Interview in November. Still haven\'t heard anything. I really liked the culture in NOLA and the school has a great tropical medicine program but when I interviewed the MD/PhD director made it sound like i could not work with anyone in the tropical medicine school.... So my main reason for applying to the school is not a possibility for study and MD/PhD? Will investigate more if I get accepted.
Summary of Experience:
rejected MSTP but offered an MD interview 2 days later! I\'m torn about the curriculum here. I love the third year flexibility but the intense first year of science seemed to make the 1st year students more stressed out than at every other school i visited (could have also been due to exams which were happening during my visit). Will consider more closely after getting a decision
Summary of Experience:
Interviewed MD only. I really liked the school, the concentrations, and the west coast. Not sure how I did at the MMI... hopefully will find out soon.
Summary of Experience:
MD only. Was excited to potentially be in NYC for a bunch of reasons but had some serious reservations about the school after interviewing....so the waitlist didn\'t hurt that much. Mainly the tour which is supposed to be led by the happiest students admissions can find, was led by a student who was maybe too honest and frustrated with a lot of things. He said he would choose the school again but it sounded like he didn\'t mean it.
Summary of Experience:
Accepted MSTP but a few days later withdrew after hearing from Emory. If I end up going MD/PhD, Emory is just a much better fit for my interests than Stony Brook.
Summary of Experience:
After being put on hold for an MSTP interview I was later rejected by the MSTP but ended up getting accepted MD after a regular interview. I loved the school and although it\'s not MSTP, I am still closely considering attending and going MD/MPH.
Summary of Experience:
Rejected MD/PhD but later interviewed for MD only. This was originally my top choice for MD/PhDs before getting the axe. I really really love the infectious disease epidemiology program here and if I get an MD acceptance here I will have a hard choice between Yale and MSTP at Emory. There are a lot of other things I love about Yale too... close to home, the curriculum, etc.
Update: Got the acceptance! Hard decisions to be made soon.
Summary of Experience:
Wow. I can\'t believe I got the MSTP here. The potential PhD programs are great for my interests, the PBEE and Epidemiology programs are awesome, and the CDC is practically on campus. The medical school is brand new and the new curriculum seems interesting too. Definitely one of my top choices.
