  • Brief Profile: Note: The first time I wrote the MCAT, I scored a 27N (9PS/8VR/10BS).

    • Research with a neurologist at a community-based Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders clinic
    • Heavily involved in data collection and chart reviews

    4. Part-Time Employment (hrs/wk: 24) – August 2008 to Present
    • Worked as a Security Officer
    -Performed site patrols, access control, and CCTV monitoring
    -Monitored site safety (WHMIS Trained, CPR Basic Rescuer (Level C) certified, Standard First Aid certified)

    5. Pre-Medical Society (hrs/wk: 2) – June 2009 to May 2011
    • Dental School Admissions Advisor (June 2009 to April 2010)
    -Held weekly office hours
    -Organized dental school information seminars, as well as other social and academic events in collaboration with other executives of the Pre-Medical Society

    6. Student Health Ambassador (hrs/wk: 1) – September 2010 to Present
    • Represented the Faculty of Health at the provincial Universities Fair and various other university and faculty level events, where I spoke about my experiences as an undergraduate student with both prospective students and their parents about the Kinesiology and Health Science program at my university, and also answered any questions they had about the program, potential careers upon graduation from the program, and the university in general
    • Led high school students on tours around the campus at various university and faculty level events
    • Assisted with the setup and takedown of tables, banners, booklets, etc. at various university and faculty level events

    7. Peer Academic Advising
    • Peer Mentor (hrs/wk: 1) – June 2010 to Present
    -Helped eleven first year undergraduate students in the Kinesiology and Health Science program better adjust to university life by helping them solve any problems they were having
    -Led my mentees on tours around the campus at Orientation day
    • Peer Advisor – January 2011 to Present
    -As of now, I have only done a few hours of tabling
    -Holding office hours (4 hrs/wk)
    -Planning and facilitating academic orientation for first-year students
    -Creating and presenting one seminar every semester
    -Visiting classes on a weekly basis to promote SOS and college events
    -Assisting in recruiting and interviewing Peer Mentors and Peer Advisors

    8. Charity Organization (hrs/wk: 1) – September 2010 to Present
    • Volunteer
    -Involved in the planning and execution of several club events
    -Made posters and display boards, and decorated donation boxes for several club events
    -Set up chairs and display boards, handed out food to attendees, and collected donations at several club events

    9. Student Experience Round Table (hrs/wk: 0.5) – October 2010 to March 2011
    • Participated in discussions with faculty members, administrators, and other students regarding Academic Initiative Fund (AIF) proposals
    • Collaborated with a faculty member in drafting an AIF proposal to improve Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) within the university
    • Individually drafted and submitted an AIF proposal to establish an undergraduate research journal at the university

    10. Peer Health Educator (hrs/wk: 3-5) – May 2010 to Present
    • Tabled at the annual university festival
    • Presented nutrition advice to students in various colleges and residences on campus
    • Went on walkabouts during which I spoke to people on campus about nutrition
    • Created two nutrition-related games to play with people in collaboration with other Peer Health Educators
    • Assisted with the setup and takedown of the annual Health Fair, where I also spoke with people about various health-related issues, and played a health-related game with them

    11. Student Leadership & Development Program (SLDP)
    • Participant (hrs/wk: 2) – March 2010 to April 2010
    -Attended two of the nine workshops required to complete the program
    • Student Leadership Assistant (hrs/wk: 3) – September 2010 to April 2011
    -Presented a workshop on the benefits of collaboration with others
    -Assisted instructors with the conduction of their workshops

    -Organized a Meet The Profs evening, as well as the annual Health Career Fair in collaboration with other caucus members
    -Attended monthly caucus meetings to discuss and vote on various issues affecting the undergraduate student body of the Faculty of Health

    13. War Child Canada Volunteer (hrs/wk: 0.5) – September 2010 to Present
    • Tabled for the club several times throughout the academic year
    • Helped out doing different things at various club events

    • Played road hockey with high school friends
    • Will be entering a men’s league as a team in 2012

    • Run 5km Monday to Thursday
