    Summary of Application Experience

I applied twice. The first time I got three interviews and was waitlist at ETSU and Mercer. The second time I got three interviews and was waitlisted at all three Morehouse, Mercer, and VCU. In the off year I did Many, Many things but the notables were that I continued taking classes, worked at a hospital, and took on a research position at both the department of Surgery and Trauma surgery for MUSM, both were volunteer research.

I was applying for early decision at Mercer for 2005 when I got a phone call on the last day of the first week of class for MUSM. They had me come in that first week of classes so now I am part of Class of 2008.

My case is just a good example of never giving up. I say keep GPA and MCAT as high as possible, but dont put all the emphasis on the two. I really feel blessed to have had the college experiences I did, touch the lives through my volunteer work, and become a med student. Just keep head high and do what makes you happy, the rest will fall into place.
