Large academic scholarship from my state school Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi TA for microbiology, 1 semester (80 hours) AMSA Dance Team (2.5 years, VP) 2 months (~30 hrs/week) REU w/ poster presentation 2 years clinical experience (working in student health center, 200+ hours) ~30 additional hours hospital volunteering Other volunteer: weekly dance instructor, random AMSA projects, community and fundraiser performances Part-time jobs before college & during summers
In my personal statement I tried to play up my outside-of-medicine experiences. I am into art and dancing, literature, among other things. I hope to come across as a well-rounded applicant (though still seem to have a good academic foundation)
