Summary of Application Experience
AMCAS: This took a long time due to my neuroticism over the essay. I would advise future applicants to get this out as close to the liveline as possible. Began work 6/1, Submitted 8/17, Processed 8/26
Acceptance from Pitt MD-PhD led me to withdraw from a LOT of schools. I am disappointed in my results at WashU (I expected an MD-PhD interview), JHU (I expected at least an MD-only acceptance), and Columbia (I expected an MD-PhD interview). By the end of the interview season, Penn was my #1 - which was good because it happened to be the best MD-PhD offer I received. Harvard MD-only made it a tough decision because I can transfer into their MD-PhD program after matriculation.
The end result: secondaries were sent to 12 Schools, MD-PhD interview invitations extended from 10 (the other 2 were MD-only interview). After all the withdrawals, I only had 2 MD-PhD offers, 2 MD-only offers, and one waitlist (Cornell ... my comic relief of the process). I'll be in Philly next year.
