So now that the application season is pretty much over for me, with the exception of the deferred/hold/wait-list options listed below, I\'ll provide a bit more information for future generations of applicants.
Attended Arizona State University; (BS) Biochemistry & (BS) Psychology
Clinical Experiences: Worked in an emergency room as a scribe for two years. Lots of one on one contact with patients, doctors, and nurses. Really solidified medicine as my field of interest.
Volunteer Experiences: Worked with homeless rehab clinic in Phoenix, helped organize STD testing drive on my campus, worked to fund-raise for HIV/AIDS organizations.
Research: Summer internship in Genetics laboratory following my freshman year. From beginning of sophomore through senior year I have worked in Biochemistry research lab. (>15hrs per week)
School Discussions of places I interviewed 1st Choice: Harvard - rejected 2nd Choice: NYU - wait listed 3rd Choice: Boston University - accepted 4th Choice: OHSU - Hold 5th Choice: Tufts - Deferred 6th Choice: George Washington - accepted 7th Choice: University of Arizona, Phoenix - accepted
Summary of Experience:
Georgetown lost my application for a good deal of time...once I finally called to see why my status had not progressed after the primary to the secondary it was already late in app season (*they sent me a link for a forgotten password, like I had forgotten they invited me to submit a secondary) Seriously now Georgetown, I\'m far to neurotic about my medschool apps to forget something like that.
Summary of Experience:
Can\'t believe I got invitation from Oregon. I always thought they were very heavily weighted in state...Can\'t wait to visit the \"treetop elf village.\" Loved OHSU!!! Put on Hold (3/7/2011)for a decision on May 15th...
Summary of Experience:
Feel lucky to have interviewed here, had a great experience!!! First Choice School, fingers crossed for good news in March...EFFF rejected
Summary of Experience:
Blown away by my visit to NYU. Down to earth students, quirky-accessible faculty, yep I would love to go here. Waitlisted, bummer...I wish I\'d taken the Nov. 2nd interview date
Summary of Experience:
Withdrew-First Acceptance!!! (*GW holds a dear place in my heart b/c they were the first school to accept me...they also give you a T-shirt) which scores big points in my book :)
