Since going through the Early Assurance application process sophomore year (which is why I don't have MCAT scores -- I didn't need them!), I went through I period where I was debating applying for a MD/PhD program. After spending the summer before senior year doing a REU program and shadowing in a hematology/oncology clinic, I realized that I love the clinic but can't handle 40 hours a week at the benchtop. As a result of that experience, I would like to do an internal medicine residency followed by a heme/onc fellowship.
Since applying, I've also been a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry as well as Organic and Spectroscopy labs. I am currently the secretary of my school's ACS Atudent Affiliate chapter, will be presenting a poster at the next ACS national meeting, and have completed an honors thesis based on my summer research.
May '06 -- I ended up getting an academic scholarship from UB ($5,000 per year for all 4 years). I graduated with my BS in Biochemistry Summa Cum Laude with an overall 3.88 GPA.
