Brief Profile:
Initially thought creating this profile would help me keep track of my thoughts when it comes down to decision-making time, but if my info can help someone out in the future then by all means... Stats: *Postbacc GPA: 3.94 Wish I could\'ve stuck to my June submission goal, but wanted a strong personal statement. Very strong upward trend in undergrad. Had pretty unique series of unfortunate events occur sophomore year. Non-traditional first time applicant. Doubled up to finish postbacc in one year to save money and now have a good 1.5 years of strong non-profit social justice work. Good/Unique ECs with leadership. Very strong volunteer record. Lots of advocacy. Minimal research, but doesn\'t seem to be too much of a hindrance.

Application Cycle One: 2009
Undergraduate college: Top 5
Undergraduate Area of study: Biological/Life Sciences
Summary of Experience:
Was really excited about UIC. Wrote my most creative rockin\' essay for them..and THEN...somehow..something happened with my letters and I wasn\'t complete until Nov. Instead of July when I submitted. Already went to Chicago for Feinberg, can\'t imagine going back again. Darn.
Summary of Experience:
Crickets...i.e. rejection at this point since I think they\'ve given out all/most of their invites....Orrr not...will prob decline. Too tired :o(
Summary of Experience:
Funny Story: Same friend who suggested UMich said \"Apply to Wash U. Watch them love you and give you a full ride.\" Silly me pre-MSAR applied...THEN found out their ranking. Then expected to never hear from them again. This process is full of surprises...also I wrote a pretty touching essay which probably didn\'t hurt.
First waitlist...stung but did not crush. Life goes on and chances of me choosing to attend were pretty slim :o/
Summary of Experience:
Campus is smaller than I thought but (also as I thought) patient contact is top Notch. Tops..really. Expensive but I hear they do well with aid.
Summary of Experience:
Definitely felt I flubbed my interview at this one, but surprised by an acceptance letter via snail mail. Withdrew. Not the right fit for me.
Summary of Experience:
Interview experience strongly influenced (positively) my impression of the school. Has been my favorite anatomy lab to date (lots of natural light leading to less of a dungeon-like feel...well ventilated) ....Withdrawing was a little sad, but I feel better knowing it opens up a spot for someone else deserving!
Summary of Experience:
Applied on a whim/at the suggestion of post-bac friend. WOWed me...I love it in a^2 Minus the cold. First choice of all acceptances so far without doubt.
Summary of Experience:
Came in wary about the school\'s commitment to surrounding underserved community BUT changed mind. My interviewer seemed really excited about expanding in that area. MD/MPH program can be completed in 4 years. Loved Chicago! Panel interview not as strange or awkward as SDN had me believing. Overall I think it went well but you neverrr knowww...
Accepted! Bam bam bam :o) Partial merit scholarship. Uh ohhh...back on the list
Summary of Experience:
A Dream. Almost S&^% myself when I saw the secondary. Just got completed before the holidays so there\'s still hope! ...I hope Interviewwwww. UCSF was everything I hoped for and More. I don\'t even know where or how to begin. The city is amazing..cosmopolitan...interesting...and has all of what I require personally and professionally. Nowhere else have I clicked so well with the current med students who were the Most like normal down to earth people than anywhere I\'ve been so far. The facilities show some wear but it. is. UCSF. There\'s more than enough new for me to look past the old. The curriculum is more than doable and the faculty and administrators are just NICE people. I\'m in love...with a school. Will be totally crushed if rejected so let\'s hope for the best. Time to initiate the Power of Positive Thinking. :o)
A small letter came in the mail...I died for at least 30 secs...then resurrected and wiped away the tears once I realized it was financial aid related. Is it ok to be this emotionally invested??...Here\'s to waiting aNOther month :o/
4/10/10: Humbled...and honored...
99.5% sure this is where I\'ll be matriculating. Wooooot
Summary of Experience:
Going to Grady was a really awesome experience considering that is exactly the kind of work I hope to do. Atlanta as a city really makes a great case for itself and the student housing was phenoooomenal. Had really great personal conversations with Three Deans on interview day and really clicked with them. Perhaps that\'s why I heard back so quickly?? Nervous about the accelerated curriculum though. Sad there is no second look weekend.
Summary of Experience:
Really impressed by the interview here. All the other interviewees had great credentials and I was pretty intimidated since it was only my second interview. First decisions aren\'t made until Jan.15th.
