Uphill struggle until I found a D.O. mentor who shared his application experience. Since I\'m a non-traditional applicant from the computer industry, it was difficult getting shadowing and an advisor recommendation letter. However, professors were eager to help me with letters. MCAT and volunteering were also difficult as I split time between that and work. Submitted secondary at deadline. Dean\'s Letter takes a long time to get. Secondary fully processed on 3/18. With little time before the 3/31 interview deadline, it looks too late.
Summary of Experience:
Rotations and the match lists are incredible. This school is doing something right. Less impressed with years 1-2. Small, poorly-ventilated, prosected anatomy lab. The PBL demonstration at the interview was impressive. I can see myself learning much in that mode, but only LDP gets the anatomy lab. Great rotations everywhere in northeast. Mill Creek Hospital is busy and is the only one in the area that survived the shutdowns. Snow\'s everywhere, but I was comfortable in jeans and a ski jacket. Standardized interview questions (US health care issues, why osteopathic physician, LDP/PBL, why you love Erie though you\'re visiting the coldest storm of the year.)
Summary of Experience:
Big, bright, well-ventilated anatomy lab. Dissection from whole body. Henderson has everything. Rotations around Nevada (few competing med schools.) Make sure they have your latest AACOMAS - my interviewers did not.
