Summary of Application Experience
I applied as early as possible and really tried to look at schools that I would fit in to. Contrary to others\' advice, I think there is something to be said for finding a school whose mission fits your own. Not all medical schools are equal--you should look at what type of candidate they are looking for. Generally, I think most schools you\'re interested in for a particular reason will be interested in you for that very reason. I only interviewed 3 places, but that was enough to show me how much I liked the University of Rochester and I withdrew the rest of my pending applications. I also really tried to save money on applications, as futile as that was.
Summary of Experience:
Rude, snobby, sarcastic. I really felt like students here were miserable and putting themselves through the hell of medical school for the sake of self-sacrifice itself, not really as a genuinely altruistic mission to serve others. As opposed to other schools, they felt like they worked constantly but never learned everything. Kids from other schools I met were much more happy with their studies and seemed to enjoy medical school. This felt like a competitive and non-supportive environment.
Summary of Experience:
First choice, first acceptance. I absolutely love this school for its Honor Code, the biopsychosocial approach, the supportive professors and environment, the community service and international opportunities...Students were really happy, admissions was particularly welcoming, I am going to be going here!!!
Summary of Experience:
Really nice, welcoming school. Everyone I met was so friendly and genuine to me, and strangers were wishing us good luck on our interviews everywhere. I really liked the school, especially their humanities department. I had 2 interviews during the day, both of which were very relaxed. I heard I was accepted only about 1 month after the interview (they told me 8 weeks).
