    Summary of Application Experience

    Things I have learned:
    1. APPLY EARLY. Like primary ready to go the first week of June early. I\'m sure being so on the ball was one of the strongest parts of my app.
    2. If you are at a point in your life where you can make this decision, take some time off between college and med school and do something completely new for you. I feel much more prepared to tackle the emotional and academic rigor of med school thanks to my experience teaching during my time off. Many people recommended not to take 1, let alone 3, years. I think it was the best decision I ever made.
    3. A suit in an interview is a non-negotiable. As is knowing something specific and intelligent about the person who is about to interview you. As are thank you cards.
    4. This process is completely unpredictable.
    5. Do not drive to a UCSF interview.
