Consistent upward trend in undergrad from 2.0 in fresh and soph to 3.5+ in senior year. I did VCU\'s Basic Health Sciences Certificate program and got a 3.815 gpa. It\'s somewhat of an SMP even though we didn\'t take classes alongside the med students but our material (I\'m told) is identical to that of med classes, including Physiology, Biochemistry, and Neuroanatomy with the same professors.
It really sucks when you take the MCAT and keep scoring MUCH lower than your practice test scores but I\'m happy to finally have a good score.
I applied to 40+ schools, all relatively OOS friendly and lower stats (MCAT average 32 or lower). Here\'s hoping my sub 3.0 in cGPA and sciGPA doesn\'t automatically screen me out of too many schools.
Extracurriculars: Hospice volunteering; soup kitchen volunteering; competitive ice hockey in advanced leagues for 5+ years; MD/DO shadowing in 4 different specialties including: Emergency Med, Physiatry, Orthopedic Surgery (got to watch plenty of hip replacements), and Nephrology; currently employed full-time as an ED Scribe.
