Summary of Experience:
Didn\'t expect to get in, would have been nice to have an interview though to see Ann Arbor. Very impressive school from their website and what I\'ve heard from students.
Summary of Experience:
Another extremely well-rounded school. As my host put it, \"Interview day is when they start recruiting students to come\" and this rang true. The day was very informative, though the tour was heavily cut short because other things ran over. A perfect balance of clinical exposure/resources and tremendous research endeavors. Wow.
Summary of Experience:
Unfortunately underwhelming. Did not get the sense of a top 15 medical school and hospital. Tour guide seemed unexcited and not passionate about the school - surely the wrong person you want representing the school. Interviewer was the opposite though, but attended Pitt for undergrad. Hospital facilities were nice and interconnected. Pittsburgh wasn\'t bad, but wasn\'t great.
Summary of Experience:
A truly special school. Students seemed extremely happy and stress-free, but still focused and driven. All raved about research opportunities and working in community clinics. Hospital left something to be desired, but they\'re building a brand new medical school for c/o 2014 (incoming 2010) which is sweet! ~80% graduate in >4 years which is unique. Campus was breathtaking.
Summary of Experience:
Very well-rounded compared to what I expected in terms of research vs. clinical emphasis. Facilities were nice (medical school is basically IN the hospital) and interesting interviewees my day too. Good lunch, good talks from admissions staff. Interviews were not quite alpha/beta as described, so don\'t be too worried about that.
Summary of Experience:
Great interview day. Bagel/pastry breakfast, then discussion w/ admissions staff. Getting interviews over with early was good. Tour was comprehensive - showed us classrooms, anatomy labs, even a hospital ward. Students seemed happy and very laid back. Probably the most diverse students I saw. Got the sense of ample and diverse clinical exposure (Hospital is #19 US News).
Summary of Experience:
Very hard to get to, but everyone knows that. I was there during exams, so I may be biased but I was not overly impressed. My hosts had 4 finals (lectures + lab!) that week - seems like a bad way to structure a curriculum. Didn\'t even get a tour of the medical school; just the medical center, which was impressive. Niche school for sure, though not my niche.
Summary of Experience:
New Pathways. As you\'ve heard, lots of down time during the day - bring work. Tour covered only school facilities, not hospital though you can visit these facilities if you have time. Not much student interaction during the interview day, which was a big down. Also, discouraged by ~ 35 Harvard undergrads per class. Favoritism much? Curriculum seemed a good balance of lectures/PBL, clinical exposure. I don\'t know how I got in - bombed the interview, and I\'m not being modest.
Summary of Experience:
Worst part of the day was the weather and the early start time (7:45). Thorough breakfast (bagels) followed by a groups discussion/mock PBL then interviews. After that, a tour of school facilities and hospital (hotel?!). Curriculum is PBL heavy but also courses about being a doctor, medical financing, etc which seemed important. Very impressed overall.
