Brief Profile:
Research: Cardiology Lab 2 years, procure human hearts, conduct pharmacogenomic experiments, lots of bench work mixed in with some clinical work, get to see heart transplants and organ donor harvests, get to work/interact/shadow cardiologists and surgeons. Worked in a basic science lab studying transposons as an undergrad (~6 months of true science and some other time helping to set up the PI's new lab) Volunteer Work Clinical: 2 free health clinics working triage and shadowing/assisting docs (1 year) Volunteer Work Non-Clinical: Tutored at an adult reading center (6 months), Mentor to a underprivileged high school student (over 1 year still actively mentoring) Lots of different academic awards and scholarships for having a 4.0, on my AMCAS I listed most of them under 1 EC except for 1 scholarship that was much more prestigious than the other generic awards/scholarships given by my school. Shadowing: as an undergrad I followed a anesthesiologist for a day while he was the attending on call (while only a day I felt it was important to mention b/c i was there for ~14 hours and saw a bunch of surgical specialties) EMT certified: did not include this one b/c I never worked as an EMT and only got certified to get some clinical experience, what a waste of money for me.
