Summary of Application Experience
August 2008 - Took the MCAT for the second time. Really disappointed that my score dropped. I was recovering from surgery but still felt I could put in an honest effort and raise my score.
Last year (2008-2009 cycle) I didn't realize how early you could submit applications and although I met the deadlines, AACOMAS sat on my application because they lost a transcript. By the time I sent another transcript and they shipped off my application, I had missed a number of deadlines. It was probably too late anyway because many of the schools I applied to have rolling admissions systems. I got an interview at Touro-NY and was waitlisted. I learned my lesson so this year I am applying early to both DO and MD schools. Not applying to Touro-NY this time around. Wasn't thrilled with the location, not that impressed with the school. One interviewer was pretty aggressive and hostile.

Summary of Experience:
Secondary completed and submitted 08/27. Application is complete 09/01. Top choice MD school.
Pros: Strong support system implemented by school, staff, and students. Jesuit school with very strong academics. Two options for clerkship years: Omaha or Phoenix. Pass/fail system with no rankings avoids negative competition between students and encourages helping one another as colleagues; all students help one another, not only within the same year, but between years as well (M2\'s helping M1\'s, M3\'s providing mentoring, etc.).
Summary of Experience:
Pros: Great academics, strong focus on OTM, very good support system, helpful staff and students. Brand new OTM classroom, nice fitness facility with basketball court, many outdoor parks and conservation areas for hikes, etc.
Cons: Small town is more difficult to access if you want your family to visit and they have to fly. Minimal shopping options and few restaurants. Depends on what\'s important to you; these don\'t matter that much to me, especially with the strength in academics and training here.
Tuition: $40 000 Housing: $450/month for student housing; includes wireless internet access and heating. No A/C but you can install a window unit yourself.
Summary of Experience:
Pros: State of the art, new facilities (plus more being built), extensive fitness center, gorgeous campus, plenty of space and room for expansion, large OTM classroom.
Cons: If you can\'t take the Arizona heat, you may not enjoy life here (115+ degrees in the summer). Also, tuition is not cheap, nor is the cost of living.
