Overall I am a big believer in doing what I love rather than what I think will look good on an application. Hence the weird double major, which every interviewer actually ended up loving, so who knows...

    Summary of Application Experience

    AMCAS submitted 7/8/09, verified 7/29/09
    TMDSAS submitted 7/13/09, sent 8/11/09

After my Wash U acceptance I withdrew from my other interviews - if I end up paying $40,000 a year, I may as well do it there. I didn\'t finish a lot of secondaries for the same reason, I basically stopped caring. This process really burns you out.

2/5- Accepted by Baylor, withdrew from my remaining applications & interviews.
Life is good!!!! My application cycle is officially OVER!

My overall impressions -- AMCAS was a pretty big waste of money but I do think it\'s necessary to apply widely. I did severely underestimate my likelihood of getting in. I would have added some schools like JHU and Harvard that I previously didn\'t think I had a shot at.

In the end I ended up deciding between Wash U and BCM. It was a hard choice, but the cost at Wash U would have been ~$75,000 a year with living expenses, and BCM\'s in-state tuition is $6,500 a year. They both have amazing programs, but I love Houston and the people I met at Baylor were much friendlier and chill than the students at Wash U. And in the end I just couldn\'t justify the slightly better reputation of Wash U as being worth another $200,000 of debt. I felt like I was taking a gamble with BCM\'s financial instability, but once I got here I found out that it really isn\'t that big of a deal at all! I couldn\'t be happier at Baylor and I feel certain that I made the right decision for myself.
