    Summary of Application Experience

3/19/2010- UCSF ACCEPTANCE TODAY! Almost 100% that I\'m attending. This is a dream come true. All glory goes to God!

I am happy to say that my application season is OVER! It has been a long, long, long, grueling process, but I could not be happier. I wish everyone the best of luck with everything.

3/17/2010- Columbia rejection through snail mail. Re-read my secondary, it was horrible. It was the first one I did haha. Rejection expected though, the school was a reach. Cmon UCSF show me some love soon!

3/16/2010- Temple Online Status changed to \"Correspondence Mailed.\" We all know what that means. No suprise.

2/28/2010- Rejected by NYU. Meh. Wouldn\'t have gone over state school.

2/26/2010- Emory rejection. Meh. . the best way to describe how I feel.

2/23/2010- So it looks like I have bypassed another round of UCSF acceptances and waitlists. I guess this is better than bad news. I\'m hoping that I am not part of a post-interview rejection round. Man this wait it torture.

2/20/10- Looked at the UCLA status site, final decision sent. Sad cuz I thought i had a chance at an interview, but it is kinda of relieving to see my future next year come into focus. Some people also posted some acceptances from UCSF today postmarked 2/18. So that\'s not looking good either, because like them I should have gotten it yesterday. Hopefully I get something today, or it it\'s looking like HPL. Big day of sigh.

2/19/2010- Rejected from StanfUrd today. Would not have gone there anyways. What a short, crappy rejection letter that cost me $90. Wouldn\'t have gone there any way with the Cal Vet Program now approved.

2/17/2010- Just got word from Irvine today that the Cal Vet Fee Waiver program will cover about $8,000 per quarter! That is HUGE. That basically comes out to $100,000 overall. I\'m so blessed. As soon as my final piece of paperwork for this has been approved, I think I am going to have to withdraw from USC, to give others on the waitlist a chance

1/20/2010- I was invited for an interview with EVMS today. Im pretty sure I\'m withdrawing because of not haveing the money to get out there, or pay for school if I go there. Still nice to get an invite none the less.

1/15/2010- Today I found out that my father has recieved approval from the Cal Veterans association for disability with his time in the armed services. This means that if I fill out the correct paperwork, any fees from a UC school are required to be waived! This basically means that I have to go to a UC, because the money saved would be HUGE! This helps push me into a decision about USC. I am not going to withdraw until I recieve confirmation from the UCs about this though. Anyone who had parents in the armed services, and who is from California should look into this.

There is a possibility that I might be hearing from UCSF this week, although from SDN, it appears that they are behind in decisions. I am really trying not to get my hopes up, but I loved this school so much. In all likelyhood, I will probably be hearing sometime in Feburary.

12/8/2009- My UCSF interview was today. This school and its students are SURREAL! I love this school so much and would do anything to go here. This wait is going to kill me. I stayed with some students and they were awesome. Every student is so different and so amazing at something, its almost intimidating. My interviews were interesting to say the least. My first guy was a PhD that I felt like challenged me in everything that I said. He wanted to play devil\'s advocate, ask more detail, or comment on almost every sentence that I said. Although I was thrown off and scared shitless, I really enjoyed the interview. He made me think carefully about the things I\'ve done, and how they relate to being a doctor. I was comforted in the end when he told me he hopes to see me here (although that is what the guy from UCSD said too lol). My second interviewer was a lot harder to read, but I thought I did well. I hope this was just his personality and that he was not bored with my interview. I felt like we had a good convo, but you never know. Basically UCSF puts most schools to shame, and I really hope to get in here. I am slightly discouraged with my UCSD waitlist, so I am trying to not get my hopes up. I am expecting to hear between late Jan- late Feb.

12/1/09- Davis rejection via status page. Sad, but was totally expecting it because of the lack of news, and full interview dates. Can\'t win em all.
To make this day any better, I have been waitlisted at UCSD. I am super bummed about this, but I had a slight feeling that I didn\'t fit as well at this school. I would still LOVE to be taken out of the acceptable pool, but looks like my chances are slim. BEST DAY EVER (I hope my sarcasm is reeking)

11/27/09- Got an small envelope from USC today. . .ACCEPTED! I am so blessed to have options in CA. I LOVED USC, but need to start thinking about how I could afford it if I decided to go. None the less I am STOKED!

11/24/2009- Received a call from the USC admissions office and they wanted to know an updated address to send a decision letter. I should be seeing something in the mail within a week. Exciting.

11/23/2009- OMFG I just received an invite from UCSF! This is a dream come true. I never even thought I would get a secondary let alone an interview. I am so blessed, and give all the glory to God! This has made the entire application cycle, and couldn\'t be any happier with this. I can\'t wait to knock this one out of the park.

11/17/2009- So UCSD is going to give me a heart attack. I was supposed to hear from them 11/3. When I called, they told me my interviewer got his evaluation in late, and to call back 11/17 for a decision. I call today, and am told that my interviewer has been ill, and JUST turned in my forms. They should have a decision 12/1. I really loved this school, and hope this wait and anticipation is worth it. Ok my venting is done, here is to two more weeks.

In other news, my application front has been DEAD SILENT. I hope to hear from some more California schools. To tell the truth, I am very content with a UC accpetance right now, so I am not that stressed about hearing about more interviews. Some UCSF/Nor-Cal love would be nice though : )

11/10/2009- Finally complete at UCSF. Most people on SDN have been getting invites 2-3 weeks after completeness so my fingers are crossed. FINALLY complete at ALL my schools. So glad I never have to do this again!

11/1/2009- UCI Acceptance!! My first!. I am SOO HAPPY, it feels like a weight is off my shoulders. I get to say the cliche \"IM GONNA BE A DOCTOR\"

Withdrew from AECOM, Downstate, and Rush. I don\'t have the money to get out to these interviews, but it feels wierd closing these doors so soon.

10/20/09- USC interview today. USC is such an amazing school. Seriously, the exposure that you get clinically at the LA county hospital is superb. It is brand new, and medical students get $4.50 in free lunch there every day. The campus is not in the greatest location in LA, and the facilities aren\'t top notch, but the institution and support seem the best that I have seen at a school. I like the way they split the class into ICM groups that work together for 2 years. All of the students are very happy, and all seem confident and pleased with thier decisions. They have a great community, and I hit it off well with many students I met. The drawback is how expensive this school is. It seems like there isn\'t too much aid to go around, and loans are what have to get you through. Also, it seems like you MUST have a car to get by down there. There is no one central place where students live, it seems like they are all split all around the LA area. Overall, I really liked USC, but the price is something I would really need to think about if I got accepted to any UC (which is looking hopeful right now).

Of note: there are a large number of fine looking girls in the med school class. I don\'t know what they feed them at Keck, but some were smokin.

    10/2/09- Rush interview invite
    - UCSF secondary received by school.

10/1/09- I had my UCSD interview today. La Jolla is by far the best location to have a medical school, pretty much ever. I loved the two faculty I interviewed with. They were completely stress free, and I was able to talk about marching band and college football. The free clinic was amazing, completely running on all cylinders. Students seem really happy, and competitive free. There were a couple of things (very minor) that turned me off. First, I didn\'t click much with the interviewee\'s. I know I can\'t judge the school based on this, but it was a kinda bad initial impression (one girl who would not stop talking about other \"better\" schools, and was taking UCSD for granted). Also, BEWARE the free clinic dinner was NOT FREE. I wish they would have made this clear after we decided to go to a 4 star restaurant with 4 star prices. After getting those bad tastes out my mouth, I really enjoyed the school, my host, and all that UCSD has to offer. When it comes down to it, UCSD is pretty much at the top of my list with Irvine right now. I know I would be happy at either one.

9/25/09- UCSF Secondary rec\'d. Totally suprised, was expecting rejection. So happy, hope it\'s not too late though.

9/24/09- SUNY Downstate interview invite. Time to book my NY flights.

9/23/09- I attended my UC Irvine interview today. I was SO IMPRESSED with this school. The only way to describe the campus, faculty, and students is laid back. When I first read this, I thought it was a bad thing, but it turns out this is a very good thing. They work hard to help each other so EVERYONE does well on the boards. The class of 2014 will also have a brand new medical school building and hospital to work in when we get there. This school has definitely moved up my list of top schools and is highly under-rated. I loved the students that I met, especially the ones from the Diversity Coalition. I really hope I get in here.
