  • Brief Profile: Double major in Math/Bio. Graduating next December w/ BA & BS, hopefully going to spend 5 months in Europe following the cycle.

    >5 years research in the same micro-/molecular biology lab, started in High school. Completely lucked out by finding a great lab before I even knew what being a \'scientist\' consisted of.

2 publications, both as a mid-author. 1st author publication submitted to Nature; already reviewed but rejected from Science :/ Hopefully will be in print somewhere by interviews, but doubtful by AMCAS submission. Another paper is going in as 3rd author as soon as we get the current one through the process. Should have ~6 by graduation.

Author on >25 abstracts. First & presenter on ~12, mostly oral presentations at national and international meetings including invitations to Switzerland, Bethesda, MD, & D.C.

Awards at a few meetings for leading presenter or outstanding presentation. Multiple travel grants to various conferences.

Co-author w/ PI on patent for antibiotic w/ novel target & method of action

Standard school awards, scholarships, honors societies, involvement, leadership etc.

Only ~30 hrs clinical volunteering. Shadowed a Pathologist for ~20 hours total. Doing more of both before June!

Some negatives: federal misdemeanor on the record (big woops...), two college alcohol violations (second appears on the transcript b/c 2nd offense). At least I had fun?

    Summary of Application Experience

    Weakness: clinical. Strength: Research.

MCAT update: That was as hard as I thought it was. My score was a few points under my AAMC averages (~37-38); I muffed something on verbal. But you could not pay me to take it again. Puts me just below average at most MSTPs. Going to take it and run! I added a few more schools because of the slightly lower MCAT.
