Summary of Application Experience
Things I've learned: > Starting early was a great idea. The early start was very helpful because by the time I lost most of my steam, I was mostly done with the really involved parts (apps and such). > I applied to 21 schools. GOOD because I applied to a little bit of everything that might have caught my eye. I figured you only want/hope to go through this process once so I wanted to make sure I have a variety that would let me find the best school for me. With all everyone says it's hard to now what some schools are really going for, so I took some chances. Some paid off. BAD because it was tiring/laborious. But I'm still glad I applied where I did. > Staying organized is essential with so many deadlines and small details. Keep track of dates, letters, emails, everything. Find some way that will work for you... folders, file cabinets! lol, w/e you need. > Someone told me to keep a journal and write my thoughts about a school immidiately after my interview. Those notes, in addition to notes I wrote during the interview day, have been invaluable. > God is soooooooooooo Good.
March- No one tells you how stressful this process is. The stress from waiting (for apps, for interview requests, for AN acceptance), or from deciding between schools was somewhat unexpected. I'm glad the application year is concluding. ::Hugs:: for everyone going through this.
Dec- finished last 3 secondaries finally! no more essays.
Oct. 15, 2008- ACCEPTED to UMDNJ RWJ- I am going to be a doctor!!! Hallelujah! God is so good.
August- Got my first request for an interview! Overwhelmingly happy:D It is on now!
June/July 2008- Secondaries start to come in. Trying to complete them within 7-10 days. That goal ends by August with about a third not finished yet
June 2008- submitted AMCAS and it was verified. Wanted to get an early start, so that my numbers were not too big of a hurdle. Seems to have proven effective.
