Summary of Application Experience
The things I've learned:
-Do not give up. -Do not think you're not smart enough or that your numbers don't look so good. They will see beyond all of it if you lead them there. Stand out from all the cookie-cutter applicants. -Do not think going to an osteopathic school is any less of an accomplishment than going to an allopathic school. A doctor is a doctor is a doctor. I am grateful for the opportunity to do what I have wanted to do since I was 11, and couldn't care less about the two letters after my name.
Stay positive, apply early (again, APPLY EARLY) and act the part. Whatever you need to do to convince yourself that you are meant to be a physician, do it. Get yourself a nice suit, learn to speak in a physician's cadence, memorize the Merck Manual, etc., whatever you need to do to feel like a future physician. It will help you feel comfortable in interviews and adcoms will see that.
