Summary of Application Experience
The absurd amount of competition to land a slot in an MST program really hit me by surprise. I think the thing thats holding me back the most is that I havent spent as much time in research as much as many other applicants. Every summer I held a research position and during my senior year I worked three days a week in a lab... Since graduation I switched labs but have stayed in research during this application cycle - it seemed like a lot to me, but for MSTPs, its on the low side. Im probably going to pay the price for that.
Ive also decided that Im probably a bad interviewer... despite my decent number of interviews, ive had more than my share of rejections/waitlists.
Update:
Im going to UCSD - MSTP ! Its been a long process (i found out in mid-May), but im glad mine had a happy ending. I couldnt be more pleased.
