    Summary of Application Experience

Well, it is now mid-august and I am very surprised and excited to have six interviews when I get home from overseas. I am definitely ready to begin the interview process, and I hope to receive more interviews in the coming months. It should be a fun year.

10/30/2008 I have been offered 16 interviews so far and have attended 11. I turned down the remaining five interviews for reasons associated with money, sanity, and my acceptance to University of Chicago Pritzker. Yay!! Pritzker is an amazing school! I should be hearing from a few schools the first week of November. It's too bad Harvard and Yale don't let you know until March...

    11/13/2008 Acceptance from Northwestern!!

12/18/2008 Awesome Christmas present! Substantial Merit Scholarship from UChicago Pritzker! I am completely blown away. :)

12/27/2008 Wow, I received an acceptance from UCSF today. As an out of state resident this was quite unexpected. UCSF is an amazing institution; I hope to hear good news from their financial aid office.

12/30/2008 It seems that choosing a medical school is going to be a bit more difficult than I had once imagined...but I'm not complaining! :D I am so thankful.

Late January: Turned down an interview at WashU and decided to make a few application withdrawals.

3/16/2009 HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL ACCEPTANCE!!!!! Woooohoooo!! So excited about this wonderful opportunity. I am so honored to have been chosen. Making a decision about where to attend school had previously seemed impossible, and within minutes of the HMS acceptance the fog seems to have cleared. I cannot wait for second look! I'm anxious to see the financial aid award too...thank God for the middle-income initiative!

3/19/2009 Yale School of Medicine Acceptance!!! Woot! I can't believe my luck this week. I feel like I should play the lottery just this once...haha. I loved Yale, and the students I met were definitely some of the friendliest and happiest. This acceptance complicates my decision a bit, and unfortunately the second look is the same time as the HMS second look. If things don't feel right at the HMS I may end up at YSM!

4/30/2009 It's official, I'll be attending Harvard Medical School. Today I mailed withdrawal letters to all of my other accepted/waitlist options. Sending withdrawal letters to Yale, Pritzker, and UCSF was pretty tough. It's kind of like breaking up with a girl you really like and whose feelings you don't want to hurt.
