I have no expectation that this whole process is going to be much fun, but it should be interesting! I'm applying to med school after spending the last 10 years in the military. My grades in college were just good enough to keep me off of academic probation. In fact, when I wanted to change my major from chemistry (which became EXTREMELY boring to me) to general science, I was told I couldn't because my grades weren't LOW enough. Huh?
I've taken about 40 credits of post-BAC bio/orgo classes and managed a 4.0. I'm a little late in the whole 'rolling admission' game. I'm applying to both MD and DO schools, because I'm still not quite sure how the just barely a 3.0 will play out.
MCAT: Took first time on 22 Aug 2008. I only had time to study for about a week and end up with a 9,9,9,Q. I'm not too disappointed, but I may do a retake in January. Update: I paid for the 30 Jan 2009 MCAT, so it looks like I'm taking it.
30 Dec 2008: Just got first acceptance from TouroNY. Cancelled my interview with LECOM-B. It cost me $235 to cancel the US Airways ticket. WTF? It was using airline miles!?! God, I hate civil aviation.
28 Jan 2008: Interview invite from Tulane. Didn't really see that coming.
