Summary of Application Experience
5/27 MCAT! 6/27 MCAT scores released...happy :) 6/28 submitted AMCAS 7/18 AMCAS verified..finally! 8/30 Submitted ALL of my secondaries! YAY! 9/4 TWO IN ONE! Interview invites: AECOM and UMASS 9/9 Interview invite: BU 9/25 Complete at ALL schools! 9/30 UMASS interview ----> notorious for being slow with decisions 10/6 AECOM interview ---> won't hear anything until January :( 10/27 BU interview---> won't hear anything until January :( 11/12 Interview Invite: NYMC (not until MARCH 4!) 11/13 I hate all the waiting :( Have yet to hear back anything from 9 schools! Arghhhh 1/1/09 HAPPY NEW YEAR! 1/12 BU deferred decision until March...boo! Oh well it's not a rejection (yet at least) 3/28 Oops haven't updated in a while...So as of right now:
3 Pre-Interview Holds (we can safely assume, as of now, that means rejection) 3 Formal Pre-Interview Rejections 8 Interviews --->1 Post-Interview Rejection --->1 Post-Interview Waitlist 2 Silent Rejections (those schools have stopped interviewing but didn't invite or reject me, cough cough Tufts/Loyola)
I personally LOVE that it's practically April and I'm still getting interview invites but no acceptances :( I suppose God is just teaching me a lesson of patience :)
4/9 Life is amusing: 1 post-interview rejection, 3 waitlists, 2 that like to play the waiting game. OY VEY. Ah well, I might as well enjoy what's left of my senior year and probably start planning my life if I don't get into medical school for this fall! 5/5 Update: 4 waitlists, 0 acceptances...LOVE MY LIFE. 6/24 So more than a year after I started this process I finally have my one and only acceptance (hey, it only takes one) to medical school!! See y'all in Philly :) [ps I'm still waitlisted at 4 schools--> NYMC, UMASS, BU, Tulane]
--As a backup plan I applied to the ACP offered at Tulane and was accepted the same day I was accepted to Temple so I was fortunate that both Plan A and Plan B worked out --It probably was foolish of me to turn down 2 MD interviews before I even had an acceptance but I was BURNT OUT. Juggling this process with school was awful: from missing classes to just wanting to enjoy my senior year with my friends. Luckily it worked out for me but for future applicants I'd suggest to go to ALL interviews until you have an acceptance!
