Summary of Application Experience
I am so grateful for the acceptances that I have. There is no question how excited I was the day I got those letters. I am grateful for the fact that I will be in medical school next year, and that I know the direction that my life will be going.
Maybe I shouldn\'t, but I still get depressed at every waitlist letter that comes my way. It still hurts, even with the acceptances. Anyone who says otherwise, or that once you have the first acceptance that it doesn\'t matter, is full of crap. Given the past history of many of the schools I am waitlisted for, I know that the chances of me getting in to any of them are extremely slim. This is why I get so depressed - most of those schools are the ones at the top of my list, the ones that would cause me to consider withdrawing from other schools if I got into them. The worst part is knowing that I have to just wait. Wait until they say \'no\' later. Wait until they pass over me again in May or June. I can not withdraw from the schools, so I just have to keep waiting.
For anyone who reads this that does not have an acceptance, I really am pulling for you. Please do not take this rant the wrong way. I am happy that I have been accepted, and I would not trade the letters for anything. This is just me ranting about a process that has destroyed most of my optimism. I sincerely hope that you do get in to your dream schools even though mine did not come through. I truly wish you the best of luck.
