I applied last year and was waitlisted at two schools, but I didn't have my research experience and one of them was an out-of-state school. I am applying Early Decision, taking the MCAT to try to raise it a few points and show the ADCOM I am trying to improve my application.
6/4/08 Submitted AMCAS, was verified within three hours. Now the waiting begins!
7/16/2008: Complete at MUSC, pending MCAT score
7/17/2008: MUSC officially declared me a SC resident!
7/18/08: Took the MCAT. HATE having to wait for scores!
8/18/08: Got MCAT scores back. Same as last time... what a waste of time.
8/18/08: Interview Invite! Interview in mid-september.
8/28/08: Only 35 more days until October 1st!!!
9/19/08: Interview
9/30/08: ADCOM meeting today. Very anxious. Only one more day until the decisions are given out!
10/1/08: Was rolled over into Regular Admissions, so am trying to decide what other schools to apply to? Looks like I might be needing a plan B...
10/20/08: Applied to the other state school, USC.
10/22/08: Secondary Request, interview invite for 11/19. The email said I must be complete by November 12th. 3 weeks is definitely doable.
11/19: Interview at USC. I was surprised by how much I loved it there. Everyone was friendly and seemed really happy, even though the first years were studying for an exam the next day. The Ultrasound curriculum was especially impressive.
12/2: ACCEPTED TO USC!!!! Holy Crap! The letter was dated 11/24, only five days after my interview but I didn't check the mail until today. I could have found out sooner!
12/5: Update/letter of interest sent to MUSC. All I want for Christmas...
4/9/09: Got an email from MUSC that I was rejected. Looks like I'll be going to USC in August.
