Brief Profile:
I've been a volunteer at Rush University Medical Center since April 2007...I have 200+ hours there and going. Heavy patient contact (I do patient discharges)
Active member of AMSA. I also serve on the executive board as the historian.
Physician shadowing: 40 hours. I have shadowed an Infectious Disease specialist, a neurologist, a cardiologist, and an orthopedic surgeon.
I volunteer with the University Ministry; I serve as the cantor for masses on Sunday and am also a part of the church choir.
In August I went to Honduras for a week with some members from AMSA on a volunteer trip with the global medical brigade. It was an incredible experience and we saw and treated 1,286 patients. Woot! I'm going back in January
I'm a very active musician...I play piano, clarinet, and guitar, and I try to perform wherever I can. I write songs/lyrics as well.

Summary of Application Experience
Two rejections from like waaay high tier schools...to be expected (probably will get rejected from Northwestern, too). Here's hoping for interviews from the rest!!! :)
Okay, it's been a while, but a LOT has happened! 4 interviews, one more coming up, one wait-list (SIU), and three acceptances (Loyola, Iowa, and Rosalind Franklin), so wooohooo!!! I'M GOING TO BE A DOCTOR!!! I don't know where I want to go, though. So far, it's between Iowa and Loyola, and man it's going to be a tough choice!!!
Another update...I've officially heard from everywhere now. 5 acceptances, 1 waitlist, 1 withdraw after secondary, and 5 rejections. I've eliminated U Iowa, Rosalind Franklin, and UIC (I didn't get into the Chicago campus) from the final roster, so it's now down to Loyola and Med. College of Wisconsin...boy this is a tough (but awesome) choice!
