    Summary of Application Experience

7/1 - Received George Washington Secondary
7/8 - Invited to interview at El Paso, decided on the last date available (8/28) to ensure that MCAT scores would be posted. I know for a fact that a semi-final decision is made about an applicant the day of the interview at Texas Tech, and so I asked the director of admissions at PFSoM if this is the case at El Paso as well, and it is.
7/28 - Invited to interview at A&M on the 14th! College Station campus
7/29 - Received a call from TCOM inviting me to interview. Will interview 8/15.
8/7 - Invited to interview at San Antonio on September 8th.
8/14 - Interview at A&M went really well, the people were very nice. I'm really interested in that 2+2, we'll see what happens. Filo Maldonado seems nicer than a saint, but I have to remember that he's not a person I'll spend much time with if I go to A&M!
8/15 - Interview at TCOM also went well. TCOM is a great place, but I'm interested in doing surgery, which means I probably need an MD program. But the prospect of a brand new building with a $4million rec center is very impressive. If you like primary care, don't overlook this place.
8/28 - Invited to interview at KCUMB, without even having filled out the secondary. If I get in to any MD program or to TCOM, I'm definitely not going here. Not sure what to do about this... Maybe my new MCAT score will help clear things up. Got advice? leave a comment.
8/29 - Interviews at El Paso were great! I know it's a brand new school, but be careful not to dismiss it outright. Curriculum seems incredibly well thought-out.
9/1 - I've decided to delay my interview at KCUMB. I'll try to push the date back to mid-October so I can look at my MCAT and re-evaluate. I had a great meeting with an adviser who had nothing but encouraging things to say about my chances with the Texas schools on my list, so that's good.
9/2 - Holy crap I just found the EVMS supplemental invitation in my inbox. Dated 8/4, it says to turn it in within 30 days... I hope they give me another week.
9/9 - Got my new MCAT score back. Hard to be disappointed, though I was aiming for a couple more points than this. I'd say I'm satisfied with it.
9/11 - Have decided to add one more reach school to my list: Vandy. I have heard incredible things about this place, and I've got some good friends who are MS I's there. Here's hoping they like my MCAT. (and don't mind my GPA)
9/17 - 'On hold' notice from VCU. I'm told they like to prioritize heavily in favor of in-staters, so it'll probably be a little bit before I get an interview. We'll see.
9/20 - Officially the first rejection of the year, from Wake Forest. Fine. THEIR LOSS. (at least that's what I tell myself)
9/29 - Things have been too quiet on the Texas front since I got my new MCAT score... This is so frustrating!!
    10/20/08 - Vandy rejection.
11/3/08 - Rejected from Georgetown. Keeping my fingers crossed for a prematch in two weeks!
11/13/08 - Interview invitation to Houston. Hopefully a nice appetizer for the excitement I hope comes tomorrow. C'moooon A&M or San Antonio!!
    11/14/08 - THANK THE LORD! A&M acceptance. I'M GONNA BE A DOCTORRRRRRRRRRRR.
1/18/09 - Wow, it's been awhile since I've updated all this. I've decided on A&M as my top choice for the match. While my application is still technically alive at Baylor, I'm not expecting a miracle at this point, and I don't really see myself going out of state. So it's looking like A&M is all but certain. 2nd time's the charm!
