Summary of Application Experience
I'm still at the very beginning of the app process right now, so I haven't taken my formal MCAT or anything yet (the posted score is my lowest diagnostic thus far). I'm nontrad not because of age, but because of my heritage and past (double minority, large life obstacles), so I'm hoping that between my interesting story and hopefully high MCAT score, I might get in to a school on the first try. I guess we'll see.
EDIT 8.25.2008: Well, getting a 33R on the MCAT certainly cheered me up! I still decided to cut down the number of schools I applied to from 9 to 5, though, because I just feel unsure about my chances and I think they might want to see my senior grades still. I'm wishing my state school weren't also one of the best schools in the country... state schools are meant to be our 'safety' schools (insofar as any medical school can be called a safety, haha).
FINAL EDIT 4.27.2009: I interviewed pretty early (all before Christmas) and my 1st (OSU) and 2nd (Rocky Vista) choice schools were the ones that got back to me first. I was accepted into Rocky Vista but held out for word from OSU - and when they let me in, I accepted pretty much on the spot. I'm going to be a doctor!
