Brief Profile:
Non-traditional candidate. I completed my math/science pre-reqs over three years in an \'informal\' post-bacc program (i.e. at night at local community colleges) while working full time in public health. My undergrad GPA was an unremarkable but respectable 3.59, while my post-bacc GPA was a 4.0.

Undergraduate college: Georgetown University
Undergraduate Area of study: Foreign Language/International Studies
Summary of Progress Took MCATs in April. I wanted to be early, but things came up and...
8/04/08 - Primary application submitted 9/15/08 - LORs go out (FINALLY) 9/18/08 - First interview! Case Western!!! YAY
10/17/08 - Stanford interview invite. Am I dreaming?! 10/31/08 - A very great two weeks. My anxiety level is going down and I am starting to look forward to the rest of this process...
11/11/08 - Stanford interview. Ehhhhh... I have no idea how it went. I garbled some answers to standard questions that I should have had seamless prepared answers for. Loved the school, laid-back students, resources and opportunities! Keeping my fingers crossed. 11/18/08 - I LOVED Case! The school seems really committed to its students, its students seemed really satisfied with the school and curriculum, and the other interviewees were friendlier and more well-adjusted than the intense and humorless group at Stanford. Interviews felt relaxed and positive...
12/03/08 - Acceptance!!! Case! GREAT SCHOOL... My first. SOOO excited. 12/10/08 - Interview at UCLA. The students are really happy! That\'s a plus. The day was pretty short and informal, just a tour and the student and faculty interviews. My faculty interviewer was not particularly nice, he kept saying \'you\'re a really unusual applicant\' (like he couldn\'t decide if that was good or bad) and \'I just don\'t think you can do both policy and patient care\'...mmm.... 12/15/08 - Georgetown went well, I thought :). It was fun to visit my old haunts and such... and I clicked with the interviewer. Good times! 12/16/08 - UC Irvine. Nice, friendly place. Seemed like a low-stress environment for studying medicine... The school gets big props in my book for pairing interviewer/interviewee interests. I don\'t understand why more schools don\'t do that, aside from the fact that they\'re overworked/understaffed. 12/30/08 - I got an e-mail from my faculty interviewer that I WAS ACCEPTED TO STANFORD!!!!! How the....
01/05/09 - UC Davis interview. What an amazing new medical school building! It\'s great that it\'s integrated with the hospital complex. I really like the school\'s involvement in the surrounding community and the high number of student-run free clinics. The day had a number of unexpected twists and turns in it and I definitely gave one of the \'worst interview answers\' possible... Too bad, I liked the school a lot. 01/13/09 - Harvard interview. I felt like Harvard was that cool girl from high school who was pretty, smart, athletic, popular, and dating the quarterback. She knew she was hot stuff and you hated her but wanted to be her friend at the same time...
02/10/09 - UCSF interview. I fell in love despite trying my hardest to keep my guard up and minimize expectations. Something just clicked for me... maybe the awesomeness of the school? That or the mild crush I developed for Dean Wofsy and one of my interviewers, how embarrassing :P 02/22/09 - Attended the UCLA PRIME program interview. The MMI format was akin to \'speed dating\'; the applicants rotated amongst interview stations and answered one question at each station. The experience was exhausting but fun.
3/27/09 - UCSF ACCEPTANCE IN THE MAIL TODAY. WHOOOOOHOOOOO
05/02/09 - UCSF\'s Accepted Students Day. What an amazing group of individuals! So many other non-trads with really interesting and unique backgrounds. Everyone seemed very humble and unpretentious, all the while being totally awesome. I really liked the vibe from the school and I really felt like I could be happy there. 05/08/09 - Stanford Second Look Weekend. They sure know how to wine and dine you! I could see myself being very happy here. The students were formidably intelligent and very friendly. They seemed really happy. I didn\'t like being the only truly non-traditional student there... the other accepted students who were older all seemed to have advanced degrees (PhDs).
05/15/09 - UCSF CLASS OF 2013 (or 2014)!!!
