Summary of Application Experience
7.2.08 - Here's my AAMC practice test scores I've taken so far in order of when taken: 28, 29, 30, 35, 31, 31, 32, 33, 32. Still shooting for a 33. Getting a little nervous but just trying to stay busy when not studying so I dont drive myself crazy.
8.22.08 - MCAT didnt go as planned. Only 28M when average tests were way higher. I guess it happens, hopefully I'll still get in. Applying to MD and DO programs.
7.29.09 - Probably the last time I'll post. I wanted to come update and complete my profile though. I am attending Nova Southeastern University for a DO program. Im very excited and have no regrets between MD or DO. In retrospect, I would have only applied to DO schools had I done it again. The MD schools are even more of a crap shoot plus they have some strict GPA or MCAT cutoffs. Which means they wont even read your personal statement or extracurriculars, they just flat out reject you when they see I have a 3.35, 28.
Overall... I had four interview invites, went to three of them and got accepted at all three. I applied towards the beginning of the cycle but since I didnt have all my LOR sent into schools they wouldnt look at my application for months! MAKE SURE YOUR LETTERS OF REC ARE GETTING IN ON TIME!!! They will not process your application (meaning invite you for an interview) until it everything is complete in their system. So dont be afraid to give your letter writers a dead line or follow up and ask them to finish in a timely manner. Otherwise you'll get screwed out of valuable interview dates. Also- ALWAYS schedule your interviews earlier than later. Pick the earliest date you can do.
Another reason I applied to so many schools was because I need to move with my significant other. So she needed an acceptance as well for her area of study. We both got into NSU so all worked out well. It was our top choice anyways!
Best of luck applicants!
