Summary of Application Experience
6/19: Submitted AMCAS 7/8: AMCAS verified 7/14-current: working on secondaries. busy with a summer program, planning to submit all the secondaries i've accumulated by 8/15. 7/30: First interview invitation: Rochester! Scheduled for 9/22. 9/11: Can't believe I'm still not done secondaries. New full-time job taking up a lot of my time. 9/22: Had my first interview, at Rochester! Two blind interviews, one with a faculty member and one with a student. 9 other applicants (7 other females and 2 males) were there with me. Lots of down time throughout the day. 9/28: Enough is enough, I'm getting burned out. Secondaries are going to be done by 10/12, no matter what. 10/14: third interview invite - to Vermont!!! 10/16: fourth interview invite - to VCU!!! 10/24: I GOT INTO MEDICAL SCHOOL!!!!!!! ROCHESTER ACCEPTED ME!! 11/6: Had my interview at VCU. Very well structured - I knew what time my interview was going to be and there was no sitting around. Had one interview with an MD/PhD student. 7 males and 2 other females interviewed that day as well. 12/2: Interview at NYMC - really awful. Interviewer was disorganized and unprofessional. Wrote a letter of complaint to the dean of admissions. Wouldn't go there anyway - didn't impress me enough to top Rochester. 12/4: Interview at Vermont - it was a really fantastic day. Interview itself was tough but fair. School is unbelievably amazing, I loved every bit of it. Really high-tech and eco-friendly, and it's obvious that they do everything they can to get you a good education. 1/6: Waitlisted Vermont - crossing my fingers!! 1/15: NYU Interview. VERY laid-back and comfortable. To be honest, the curriculum paled in comparison to Vermont's and other schools I saw that are clearly focused on primary care. Though that's a disappointment, I feel like I'd get a good education pretty much anywhere and having the diverse patient population of New York City is a major plus. And, I live in NYC now and love it so much, I hate the idea of moving from this city! So if I got it, it would be near the top of my list. 1/23: got invites to Cincinnati and Rosalind Franklin! Really excited about Rosalind Franklin. 1/27: decided not to go to the Cincinnati interview. I already have Rochester and I'd much rather end up there. I really don't want to be stuck in the midwest with their homogeneous communities (I know it sounds like I'm stereotyping but I looked up demographics) and super conservative laws against reproductive rights.
4/8: haven't updated in a while! here's the summary:
2/9: Washington interview. Did awful. Expected a rejection. 2/24: decided not to go to Rosalind Franklin interview. 3/6: GW interview. A little worried about their probation issue. 3/19: Temple interview 4/1: Jefferson interview - got put on the High Priority waitlist. I really hope that means I get a spot. I do not want to end up at Rochester - I need a real city!!! 5/5: Have been talking to the Jefferson deans for a month. They keep telling me I'm doing great and that they are both working to get me in, etc. 5/12: GOT INTO NYU!!!!!!!! THIS IS WHERE I'M GOING!! I
