7/19 - finally did BU's essay. these secondaries have really burnt me out. i am still procrastinating on mt. sinai's essays...

7/19 - thankfully harvard's secondary was easy as pie.

7/21 - sent out einstein's app via USPS

7/23 - FINALLY finished mount sinai. for some reason answering why i am special was the hardest thing to do. ugh!

7/25 - last LOR in!! yay! ask premed office and they said committee letter should be uploaded to virtual evals within the next 2 weeks or so... so much better than i thought. some schools dont get them out until september.

7/26 - got northwestern's secondary invite. due date is august 8th and it has 3 major essays. i decided to withdraw er.. unofficially, that is not do the secondary at all and added UPenn to my list instead: closer, friendlier secondary :)

7/28 - received and submitted UPenn's secondary. what a nice, easy one it was.

8/1 - never received the Tufts secondary invite but did the forgot password trick and logged in. so hard to cut down the diversity essay to 1000 characters but finally got it done today.

8/4 - NYU is submitted! it took me 2.5 weeks to get it finished and in the end my 3 nice paragraph essays became one huge paragraph bc of their stupid website, but I AM DONE! YES! now comes the waiting.

8/5 - LOR's uploaded to Virtual Evals; AMCAS notified me and said that my file is complete.:)

8/6 - email from NYU letting me know my file is complete. now the waiting....oo!! complete at cornell and georgetown too! not bad.

8/9 - complete at the non-rolling schools, but the ones that have started giving interviews already (georgetown, NYMC, and downstate) i am not complete at...

8/18 - Well SUNY Downstate finally processed my LOR's on 8/13 so everything is in for them. i did not get a complete email, so I dont know if they realize I am complete and should be under review. lol Yale also received my LOR's on 8/13 and marked me complete and under review on 8/14. Today the NYMC status page finally said that my secondary, LOR's have bee processed, that i am complete and under review. Been complete at AECOM since 8/8 but still nothing. But I called Mount Sinai and I am complete and under review! Whoo!

8/24 - starting to go crazy... those schools better say something within the next week before classes start or i will lose my mind.

8/26 - no interviews but i am complete at columbia. Oh man! email around 7pm from TUfts! First interview! bad thing is that they interview only on tues and thurs, but those are my busy days. oh well. profs will have to suck it up.. or i will lol.

8/27 - AECOM interview invite!! YAY!!!

8/28 - Downstate interview. so much school will be missed... sigh and classes i like too

9/10 - not much has been going on UNTIL i got my Harvard interview invite today!! SO Stoked! but wish it were columbia or cornell or nyu or mount sinai that I heard from.. oh well. im still so thrilled and excited.

9/11 - First interview today, at SUNY Downstate. I was SO FREAKING NERVOUS. The guy kept telling me to relax, but did have some nice things to say. Also, the interview was like 15-20min long instead of 45-60min. I dont know if its good or bad... but he winked at me. I assume that is a good sign. Also got a UPenn invite!

9/12 - YES!! A Mount Sinai invite!! But a georgetown rejection. not upset about it. If a NYC schools rejects me, I will cry forever.

9/22 - Went to einstein today... didnt really like it actually. would really not want to go here.... still no word from the 3 NYC schools i love...please, please, show me some love...?

10/2 - SO I have had my Harvard interview and while it would be an honor to attend the school, I did not fall in love with it. It was nice and pretty, but the admissions office did not really try at all for the day. there was no presentation or anything. Eh. we shall see.
then I had my UPenn interview. this was my first time to philly and upenn and i fell in love. this was an amazing school with amazing professors and students it seemed. I just really really loved it. It it my 4th choice school where the 1st choice is tied between NYU, Cornell, or Columbia. To be honest I dont care which one of those three will accept me. I just want one of those three and every other school can reject me. Just one :(

10/3 - OMG! COlumbia interview invite! same day as NYU. i thought i would have to reschedule, so i called the admissions office. turns out i can just have the interview as scheduled, and go on the tour and lunch a different day. SO HAPPY! Tuesday is going ot be an insane day though:
915 am - interview at nyu
11 am - 130pm - lunch and tour of nyu and bellevue
330 pm - columbia interview invite.

10/8 - so yesterday was an insane day! but i loved, absolutely loved, both schools. Bellevue is amazing inside. the lobby reminds me of a train station, a really pretty one. and columbia is also outstanding and my interviewer was the sweetest psychiatrist ever. its gonna be a long wait for these schools. NYU's housing is pitiful but for the area and the price, its a-ok lol! I did not go on the columbia tour, will probably do that sometime later this month, but what i did see, i liked. the neighborhood is fantastic but would be ultra-convenient for me. I really like that they are more lecture-based. I seem to learn better that way anyway.

10/15 - OMG 9pm! I got a phone call from an unknown number. it went to voicemail... but it was from tufts! i got in! it was a little hard to hear so ilistened twice and will listen again a few more times but i got in! im gonna be a doctor!!!

10/18 - yay!! Downstate acceptance via snail mail!! another check to write. jeez. but gotta love state school love!

10/20 - well BU took their sweet time. lol. Im not sure whether I want to go to the interview or not, but i have it scheduled and it's a while from now.

10/24 - I know that I will not hear any news from schools for quite a while, but ive been thinking about my top choices...:
    1) columbia
    2) nyu
    3) upenn

11/17 - I have not updated this in quite a while and i figured it was time. I rescheduled my BU interview because I really did not want to go to Boston again so soon and miss more class. I also have fallen in love with Mount Sinai... I was a little overexcited in my first interview there and professed my love for a school maybe a tad too much. oh well. hopefully they wont hold it against me. My BU interview was rescheduled for the LAST DAY of interviews for this cycle: Feb 11. I think MSSM, Columbia, and NYU are tied for my top choices now and hopefully I get into at least one of them because then life will be more of less complete... sigh.. now the wait

12/18 - Got an email from Mount Sinai today.. turned out to be a waitlist. really bummed about that. thankfully its not an NYU waitlist, then i would probably really be crying and sending letters proclaiming my love until they accept me or arrest me for harassment... i will definitely stay on the mount sinai waitlist because i really did love the school a whole lot and would be incredibly happy going there.

12/22 - NYU ACCEPTANCE! I was checking my email all day today and finally got the email shopping with my mom. paid the matriculation deposit as soon as I got home. also withdrew from BU when I got home so I wouldn't have to travel to the interview.

1/15/09 - decided to call and ask for a status check at aecom since many on sdn were doing it. accepted! yay, but i will be withdrawing. i hope someone who really wants aecom gets my spot :)

3/9/09 - I have not written anything in a while, so I figured I should update. Waitlist from columbia was actually welcome because it took the decision out of my hands. I was having some doubts, but this made it all too easy and confirmed that NYU really is the place for me. :) I cannot wait for second look!!!! April 24th should be awesome.

4/4/09 - NYU Financial Aid info came out a few days ago. I actually got a 22K scholarship!! Absolutely accepting all the things they offer me (scholarship + rest in loans) and withdrawing from Downstate... Looks like I have made my final decision :)

5/2/09 - I figured I'd update this one last time. Thank you everyone for all your comments!! My SO and I have signed a lease for an apartment near NYU and are packing, so it's all set. I can't wait to meet my classmates :)
