I would really like to attend an in-state school, but I\'m applying to a few \'reach\' out-of-state schools too. I\'m hoping that my MCAT and extracurriculars balance out my application - that is, my lower GPA :).
This is my list of soon-to-be-applied to schools.
I\'d be very grateful for any advice you might have!
Updates:
I had originally planned to apply to loads of schools, that is until I realized I would be spending about $250 per out of state school when I added up plane tickets, hotels, secondary fees, and food... I\'ve become miserly. :)
So I narrowed it down to Emory and MCG. My reasoning (I hope it pays off) was that I would stand the best chance getting into Emory as a GA resident versus the high caliber out-of-state schools, and that I would still choose Emory over the others.

Still waiting to hear from Emory. I\'ve sent them a few updates and made a few phone calls. I think I really need to amp it up though if I want to show them how much I love Emory.

I also received an email from MCG essentially saying that they\'re slow and haven\'t even gotten to my application yet...

So I received a letter from MCG notifying me that my application had been put on HOLD status and that I\'d hear from them no later than April. It\'s nice to at least not be rejected! I\'ll send them an update letter since I\'ve done some significant things since the interview. I really think they put me on hold because my interests in developmental biology and international volunteering weren\'t really what they are looking for. The same thing happened to my friend who was more interested in the economic side of medicine, which MCG doesn\'t really have a program for. Oh well, keep on truckin\'.

So the Emory date for sending out acceptances has come and gone... sigh. I\'ll keep the delusion that I\'m waitlisted - at least for a few more days! Also, I called MCG yesterday, and Ms. DeVaughn said all final decisions would be made today. She said letters should be sent out today and Monday. She was very nice on the phone - it kinda changed my view on MCG admissions being cold when I first met them. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I received an invitation to be on the alternate list at Emory. I definitely accepted it! I love Emory, and I hope they love me too! I try to look at the brighter side of life; I wasn\'t rejected. :) Now I\'m just waiting on MCG and financial aid from both schools. If I don\'t get into Emory, my consolation (I hope) will be 14k yearly tuition instead of 41k yearly tuition. Either way, I\'m still pretty happy.

I received an acceptance from MCG! Got a call from Ms. DeVaughn and she told me the packet is in the mail.
Good luck to everyone applying in the years to come! If you have any questions, send them my way.
Nevermind, I\'m at Emory now. Good luck to all!
