    Summary of Application Experience

I know that I have a LOT of reach schools for how bad my GPA is. I do have well over 1500 hours of clinical experience, however, in addition to a good MCAT, so I'm hoping that some of these schools take a look at me anyway.

    7/9 Submitted my AMCAS

7/24 AMCAS finally verified and i can start checking my email every ten seconds waiting for the rejections and the secondaries to come rolling in.

8/10 Letters finally up on VirtualEvals so i can start to be complete at some schools

8/24 Very first interview invite...at a great school...in boston so i can visit friends...SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY

8/30 Getting very annoyed at this whole virtualevals problem. Why is it that most of the schools were able to get my letter, but drexel and jefferson, both ten minutes away from me that i would KILL to get an interview at, can't get them? and neither can harvard or mt sinai? all schools that i REALLY want to go to, but i'll never be complete. so so so frustrating.

8/31 Second interview invite!! GW!! I can't believe with my GPA i have two already and it's still august!

9/4 Successful holiday weekend without internet access, i didn't freak out at all being away from the computer so long. I even went to bed last night instead of turning on my computer and checking, which made for a nice surprise since i actually got an invite from Morehouse over the holiday. Then, this morning while i was observing in surgery, I got another one, this time from Georgetown, a school i thought I had no shot at because of its strong religious affiliations and my not-so-accepted ECs. So i am one happy camper :-)

9/6 Invite at Downstate...state schools are finally starting to look at me, that makes me feel better as i thought i'd have heard from stony already. 5 interviews already and it's only the first week of september :-D who would have thouhgt?

Oh, and FINALLY done with secondaries!!!!! *hopefully* forever...

9/7 Invite to Howard. 6. I can't believe how well this is going.

9/28 Well, I was getting pretty upset that it had been so long without hearing about more interviews, but then today my status page changed at BROWN/WARREN ALPERT!!!!!!!!!!!! And now i will be in the library all weekend studying biochem with a grin across my face so big that people will assume i must be crazy.

10/1 Invite to SUNY Stony Brook...I was getting nervous I wouldn't hear from them as they had a fast turn around time for a few SDNers. Very convenient because I have to be in that area for an ambulance event that weekend. I really liked how open and easy it is to schedule it for whenever is good for you.

10/2 Getting a little bit sick of hearing that i'm only getting these interviews because i'm black from people who haven't read my essays and know only what's written here on mdapps but presume that I could never be acceptable with my gpa even though they don't know the circumstances surrounding it. Like all 8 schools so desperately needed to interview one more black girl it didn't matter who it was. Not going to let it shake my confidence.

10/15 Accepted to Tufts!!!!!!!!!!! (there are not enough exclamation points in the world to express how excited i am about the fact that i am really going to be a doctor). And just a little sidenote for the people who attack me every time i try to encourage others with low GPAs, my Tufts interview specifically told me that they DO NOT participate in any affirmative action and do not take race into consideration.

10/19 Accepted to Howard!!! Ahhhh tough decisions to start making

10/23 Invited to interview at southern california, but i don't think i can afford to go :-( looks like i will probably be withdrawing. LOVED DC schools.

11/4 Very first rejection, Tulane. As though it wouldn't have hurt enough, I got it while my parents were here visiting in philly for the very first time, so they got to watch me open it. First rejection letter i've ever recieved for anything, since i didn't get any for undergrad or scholarships really...so it's a bit humbling. I wouldn't have been able to go to an interview there at this point anyway, because i can't afford it, same reason i turned down usc, but rejection still sucks.

11/5 Okay totally over the rejection, because CORNELL!!! AHHHHHHHH so excited. Staying with my roommate from college, all set up already. I am so happy.

11/6 Well i guess invite hiatus is officially seriously over. UMDNJ-RWJ today. Invited to the Camden campus, which made me remember the multiple campus thing. Would I get to pick which campus i go to if i got in? Does anyone know this? Because i would NOT want to be in Camden, but i'd be okay with the northern NJ campus, new brunswick i guess it was. I've been there before, it was pretty nice.

11/28 Got the phone call from stony brook yesterday with the unofficial acceptance...that interview went so well and the whole day really improved my view of the school tremendously. Cornell tomorrow I'M SO NERVOUS.
12/17 I was rejected from georgetown last week. This really really hurt, i loved that school.

1/16 Recieved an email from Stony Brook last week nominating me for the Turner fellowship, which would include a full tuition waiver and $10,000/yr stipend. Feverishly working on my essay, and extremely excited!!

6/5 ACCEPTED FIRST DAY OFF SINAI'S WAITLIST!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
by the way, got waitlisted for that turner fellowship at stony, at this point i can assume i'm not getting it so......... SINAI!!!!
