  • Brief Profile: I\'m just copying the titles/headlines from my AMCAS, in the order they appeared.. Those with a \'(+)\' after the duration were indicated as ongoing on my AMCAS, and the time listed is relative to when my AMCAS was submitted on June 25th, 2007. Also keep in mind that since I\'m entering these in the order they appeared on my AMCAS, they are in reverse chronological order based upon start date (AMCAS sorts your activities automatically this way).

    Student Organizations (was one item on my AMCAS):
    * Student Volunteer Ambulance Corps - 1 year
    * Pre-Medical Students Association - 1 year
    * Computer Science House - 1 year
    * Electronic Dance Music Society - 3 years

    One item nestled in that list I suspect really did a lot for me: \'Information Security Company Founder and Principal.\' For over three years, I created and ran a business with a partner. We got as big as a staff of eight, and when several projects dried up we decided to go our separate ways and all maintained a number of the projects on our own. I wrote a fair bit about running the company and it was always a point of discussion during interviews. In and of itself, it did not compensate entirely for my lackluster GPA - but it certainly helped a lot.

    5/2/07 - AMCAS goes online tomorrow. Secured an LOR today from a BCPM prof, that makes four LORs so far. Still unable to reach one other prof, and getting nervous as my undergraduate university's pre-health committee requires all LORs to be in by 6/1 in order to be represented in the composite letter/packet.

    5/7/07 - First list put up. Way too many schools, trying to whittle it down. Any advice appreciated.

    6/25 - AMCAS Submitted

    7/2 - AMCAS Verified (w00t!)

    7/18 - AHHhhhhH! Avalanche! Ok, seriously, stop sending me so many secondaries. Can't some of you schools be slower in sending, like Emory?

    7/19 - Got an e-mail from VirtualEvals today that my committee letter/packet went out to all the schools that use it today. So my LORs are taken care of everywhere now. It's all up to me now! (eek)

    7/31 - Got my first interview invite today!!! From Case, one of my top choices!!! So excited!!!!!!! :) :)

    8/5 - Early in the secondary process, I liked writing the 'Why our school?' type essays. They're fairly simple to crank out, since you just have to find things about a school you like and then write. Often, reuse is possible. Now I hate them, because they're so mind-numbing. It also makes me think less of a school - I'm much more inclined to schools that ask probing questions about applicants as individuals. These schools seem far more interested in the *people* they're meeting, rather than just the numbers. Notable secondaries thus far include: Case, Pitt, Stritch, and P&S.

    10/16 - !!!!! ACCEPTED TO CASE!!! OMF!!!! I'm in shock!! One of my top choices, and I'm in nice and early! Now I can relax a bit and enjoy the next year! w00000000!!!!! Now to withdraw from some other places!! :D :D :D
