Summary of Application Experience

MCAT 2015: 521
30 primaries, 30 secondaries sent. Think I'm missing a school on here but can't remember which

January update: Still no acceptances or II from state school. Looking at gap year options but hoping some school thinks I fit their profile

End of Feb update: Just got rejected by WashU. Overall, I'm pretty surprised how few II (sitting on 0 acceptances atm) I got. My state school that interviews 50% of IS applicants didn't invite me and I got rejected pre-II from a couple schools I basically were considering as auto-II and hopefully accepted schools like Vanderbilt, Rochester, NYU, USC, Emory. Not sure if it was something glaring on my application or just having an overall "average" application in addition to not applying June/being ORM.
Hopefully I get in somewhere this cycle, but I would be interested in talking to admissions deans, if not, to see what to improve in my application. I wasn't expecting to get in to "top" tier schools, but I am surprised at lack of a single II from one while mid tiers also didn't like me. It sucks that my stats are high enough that a lot of "low" tier schools also didn't send me an II. But how my state school not send me an II I will never know.

If anyone who reads this did any cool gap year experiences, especially serving rural/underserved populations or teaching (I think 3 years of research is enough), hit me up on here or SDN. Thanks

3/9 - Waitlisted or rejected post-II everywhere now. CCLCM was always a long shot but Iowa stings. I'm gonna guess that my interviewing is somehow so bad the people I practiced with didn't notice

March - May: Applied to several gap year programs, mostly teaching-centered. The 3 I applied to were City Year, CO Reading Partners, & Denver Math Fellows.

6/25 (?) - Saw on SDN that UVA is deferring accepted student because they over accepted. There goes that WL chance

7/6 - Got off Sinai WL after updating 7/4, school I most wanted to go to that I interviewed at! Was studying to retake MCAT but now I get 3 weeks to relax...
