Summary of Application Experience

I did not decide I wanted to go to medical school until my senior year as an undergrad. I then graduated, did some shadowing, took prerequisite classes at the less expensive state school. I took the MCAT twice (I did not study hard enough the first time).

First score 26Q; second score 35Q.

I am also a re-applicant.

I am very thankful, relieved, and still a little in shock that I was accepted.

My advice to pre-meds: if you start down the beaten, pot-hole ridden path toward medical school,

a) realize how competitive it is, accept it, and play the game
b) be persistent—it is okay to feel sad or angry, but wake up the next day and carry on
c) if you need to reapply, improve both yourself and your application
