Summary of Application Experience
I was a non-traditional applicant who returned to college ten years after a disastrous first attempt at a bachelors degree. My AMCAS BCPM and overall GPAs are due to my poor performance so long ago. My undergraduate GPA at SIU was 3.8 with a BCPM GPA of 3.9, which I believe the adcoms took into account. I have worked as a Medical Laboratory Technician in both military and civilian hospitals and clinics.
My AMCAS application was submitted on 7/20/04 and verified as complete on 8/06/04.
As of 04/05/2005, I had heard back from all the schools that I sent applications to. I am only waiting on financial aid to help me decide which school I will be attending in Fall 2005.
05/11/2005: This has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make. The financial aid packages I received from UMich, UChicago, and Dartmouth were all very competitive; SIU wasn't too bad considering how inexpensive it is; and the SLU package wasn't as much as I would have liked for such an expensive school. After much consideration, it looks like I will be attending the University of Michigan School of Medicine as a member of the Class of 2009! Go Blue!
04/05/2008: Wow! It's been so long since I looked at my profile here. I see that I had gotten some comments which I wasn't notified about and didn't answer. Sorry, people! Anyway, I'm hoping that from now on I will get some notification of comments people leave on my profile, and I will try to answer as best I can. Let me just say that I'm very happy with my decision to attend the University of Michigan Medical School.
