    Summary of Application Experience

6/25/10 - AMCAS Verified at 8:10am today. I heard that the first batch of verified applications all get sent out on the 25th (today), so I wonder if I am in that group or not.

8/1/10 - Crossing my fingers that my Wisconsin Residency gets me into Madison or Milwaukee!! Minnesota would be great too since I love living in Minneapolis, but I\'m OOS unfortunately.

8/16/10 - Completed most of my secondaries by the end of July. Loyola (7 essays!) and the U of Chicago are still in progress, and I just received my last secondary from Toledo today. Hopefully I can get these all complete before I leave for vacation in a few days.

8/18/10 - Just finished my last secondary! No interviews/small pools yet, but it\'s still very early in the application cycle. Hopefully they will start coming in the next couple of months. Time to celebrate with some Red Stripe :)

9/15/10 - I almost forgot that I applied to med schools. Got my first small pool today! Rosalind Franklin is the first school to get back to me.

10/2/10 - Got my first rejection letter today, and it just happened to be from my top choice at UW-Madison.

10/13/10 - Second rejection letter today from my second top choice at Medical College of Wisconsin. Looks like my in-state residency gave me no help this cycle. I was really hoping for some cheap Wisconsin tuition if possible, but at least they got back to me quickly.

10/30/10 - Third rejection letter came from my next top choice at University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. I didn\'t expect much from them considering they like residents of Minnesota, but I would have loved to stay in the Twin Cities area for the next 4 years.

I\'m pretty disappointed with how this cycle has gone so far. I think my lack of volunteer/clinical experience has really been hurting me. Out of the schools that remain, I don\'t have any strong preference to get into one over another at this point.

11/7/10 - Finally checked my U of Chicago status online out of curiosity and found out that I had been rejected. I\'m not sure how long my status has been set as that, but it has probably been awhile, hah.

12/22/10 - Got my first interview invite! I got a phone call from the University of Wisconsin this morning. They re-reviewed my application and decided to grant me an interview after having been rejected on 10/2/10!

1/1/11 - Kicked off the New Year by finding out that I got a 4.0 Fall semester - all upper-division science courses too. That bumps my science GPA from a 3.42 to 3.52 and my overall GPA from 3.59 to 3.64.

1/28/11 - Just got back from my interview in Madison. I was really impressed with the school and staff, and the interviews were very low-stress. I was nervous in the morning when I arrived, but the atmosphere was comfortable and helped me honestly express the kind of person that I am. Overall, it was a great experience, and I hope that they had a good impression of me too!

2/12/11 - Rejection letter from Iowa today. Not surprised at all. I\'m pretty sure at this point if I have not received an interview invitation, then I don\'t have a shot at the remaining schools. Still waiting to hear back from UW SMPH in the semi-near future. Hopefully they will have good news for me!

2/17/11 - Rejected via email from University of Colorado

2/21/11 - Rejection email from Creighton today. They\'re really rolling in now along with the snow in Minnesota, but what can you expect at this time of year. Another 12 inches yesterday.

Also, I noticed that my status on the UIC status-check page has switched from \"Application in process\" to \"Applicant in process.\" Supposedly the difference is that an \"APPLICANT in process\" is having their application evaluated at the present time. They should have a decision made for me shortly.

I still have high hopes for being in Madison next year! I expect to hear from them within a month or two.

3/18/11 - Rejected via snail mail from Toledo. At least they\'re kind enough to email you every few months to let you know that your application still exists.

4/18/11 - Rejection letter arrived today from Madison. Looks like I will be reapplying in June.
EDIT: I will wait to reapply until I have some full-time experience in healthcare. Reapplying June 2012.
