  • Brief Profile: My stats are:
mid 30\'s MCAT (nothing under 10 or over 12)
    GPA ~3.8 (science), ~3.8 (overall)

Weak to average ECs. I think on some of them I wrote about how I did something really small for less than 20 hrs (e.g. painted an old mans house who could not afford the paint and was too old to do it himself)

Absolutely no research (mostly because I hate research, but also because I did not have time due to the fact that I decided when I was a Junior to apply to medical school...also because I am lazy)

    Summary of Application Experience

This experience sucks, it will test you financially, emotionally and will likely make your life a living hell. I was lucky to be accepted to 5 schools before christmas (one of which is one of my top choice schools).

So here is the rough timeline of applying to medical school

    December 1985 ---Born

Summer 1991 --- Was obsessed with the teenage mutant ninja turtles (especially raphael)

September 1997 -- Entered Middle school (living hell for three years)

September 2000 --- Entered High School, I was not interested in science at this point

June 2004 --Graduated from High School and said 'what the hell, I guess I'll go to college'

September 2004 --- Had my first kiss :) she was very pretty

October 2004 --- Got my first GF...(same girl as above)

November 2004-Sept. 2005 --- Went through an emo phase, listened to emo music, flat-ironed my hair, wore tight clothes.

January 2006 --- Broke up with my first girlfriend :( I needed to move on...also I hated being emo so I put an end to that

    February 2006 -- Declared a science major

Summer 2006 --- Took a bunch of summer science classes to make up for lost time

January 2007 --- got interested in medicine and decided if my really dumb peers could do it, then I could too...Turns out those really dumb peers never made it to medical school.

February 2007 --- Met my BFF (female), really my inspiration to go into medicine.

March 2007 -- My BFF taught me how to drink and how to relax and have fun on school nights. She would come over to my house and we would play Trivial Pursuit and split a 6 pack of micro-brew (She insisted we NEVER drink anything mainstream...how cool is that!!!)

December 2007 -- Started flirting with this chick I met in class that was smokin hot.

February 2008 --- Got my 2nd GF...Awesome she was really cool at the time and really hot (see the december post...same girl).

March 2008 -- Met one of my best friends ever!! He is so much like me that it scares other people. We finish eachothers sentences. It is kinda like J.D. and Turk from scrubs (He is Indian though).

March 2008 --- Decided to take the MCAT so I started studying for it

April 2008 --- took the MCAT (Not great scores...but alright)

June 2008 -- Graduated and started my AMCAS

July 2008 --- filled out a bunch of secondaries

August 2008 -- Still filling out secondaries

September 2008 -- Started getting invited to interviews

October 2008 --- Went several interviews over the course of 1.5 months

November 2008 --- GF broke up with me...the day before I got accepted to medical school BEST BREAKUP EVER!! She was really a cool girl back then and was always happy and did what she wanted. Cultural differences prevented us from going forward with our relationship.

November to December 2008 --- Got accepted to all the schools I
interviewed at. (JUMPING UP AND DOWN ABOUT USC/Keck acceptance)

January 2009 -- Filled out FAFSA and some scholarship stuff

January 2009-- Went on probably my last interview and am waiting to hear back.

Feb. 2009 -- Had a series of one night stands...helped me get over that girl I recently broke up with.

Feb. 2009 -- Got really sick, I think I have mono because my throat hurts like hell and it has been going on for a while. YAY BEST DISEASE EVER (It took me all of HS and College...but I am now cool enough to get the kissing disease!!!!)

March -- Met a really awesome girl!!! She was the smartest person I have ever dated and she was GORGEOUS!!! I decided to break things off with her because (and don't hate me for this) but she had a small mouth. I fixated on it and it was probably really stupid for me to do so...I kinda regretted it, but what the hell I was moving to go to med school anyway.

Here is a poem about my first acceptance and how I felt

    It was a tuesday
I was laying on my bed
    I got a phone call
    This is what she said

    I have some great news
    your really gonna love it
    Because you are accepted
tell your enemies to suck it.

    I was overwhelmed
    s*** was off the hook
    and 'you are accepted'
    was all that it took

    I started freaking out
    and smoking lots of drugs
    giving my mom kisses
    and random people hugs

The best part of being accepted
Was rubbing it in ppls face
    making them tear up
like I sprayed their eyes with mace.

    I am just kidding
The best part of the deal
was going to dinner with my mom
and having her pay for my meal

    I ordered the salmon
    and mom some chadronnay
she made a toast to me
    cuz I'm going FAR away
