For those of you applying that may be reading this--getting into medical school is just as much about selling yourself as an applicant and networking as the business world is. If you are interested in attending a school--e-mail the admissions office and the Dean with a professional, focused Letter of Interest explaining a few key points about why you are fit to go there. I only had 1 interview offered to me until I advocated for myself & contacted schools to explain to them why they should want me.
The same day I e-mailed the dean and the admission\'s office--I heard back from 1 of the schools I interviewed at. Within 3 days, I had interviews at 2 more medical schools.... Were they already prepared to offer me interviews? Maybe. But--3 acceptances later--I think my showing interest and commitment was successful. And, why risk it? My best, most influential advice if you want to get into medical school and you do not have the 4.0 GPA & 40 MCAT is to advocate for yourself & stay in touch with the medical schools.
