Brief Profile:
I am a nontraditional applicant and I also applied as disadvantaged. I went to three community colleges and transfered to UC Berkeley as a junior. When I started at the JC I was earning credits to graduate from high school and I didnt take college seriously and ended up getting a few bad grades. Besides that freshmen year, I had very good grades with a 3.8 for my last 75 units. I also graduated with over 170 units.
Extracurricular: Founded and directed for 3 semesters a club for women interested in science. Started community outreach programs, volunteer tutoring service, and participated in campus open house events. UCB Biology lab instructor UCB open house, volunteered in the biology department and the performing arts departments. Chemistry tutor at junior college program.
Clinical: Free clinic volunteer with elected position of responsibility. Worked there for over 1 year.
Research: 1 year at a genetics/entomology lab. No pubs. 1 semester at a biochemistry lab. No pubs. 1 year after graduation at UCSF lab. Poster presentation at a junior college.
