    Summary of Application Experience

I applied REALLY late. I submitted AMCAS app in November, and wasn't complete at any school until December, some in January. I know there is a good chance this will really hurt my chances, but I'm trying to stay positive. At least I have some interviews lined up. I know it's late, but I hope I can get at least a couple more. Maybe my state schools will come through. (Feb. 3)

I got an interview invite from Wake Forest yesterday. I'm pretty excited about seeing what Wake has to offer. If I were lucky enough to get in either there or Duke I would be a happy man. Still waiting on the three in-state schools I applied to. Thought I would have heard something by now. (Feb. 5)

Received a rejection email from UNC about 20 minutes after I called their office for an update. Looking forward to my first interview at Eastern VA this week, and then Penn St. next week. Duke and Wake Forest interviews are the first week of March.(Feb 10)

I really enjoyed my interview at Eeastern VA last week. One of the interviewers seemed really nice and easy to talk to. The other was also very nice but quieter an harder to read. I struggled with a few answers and was nervous, with it being my first interview. But overall I think it went okay. I guess I'll know something in a few weeks! Hopefully I'll really like Penn State this week. (Feb. 18)

This has been a great week. Penn State was AMAZING! It completely exceeded my expectations. I loved everything about the school. If Penn State was in a more urban setting rather than Hershey, I have no doubt that it would quickly become a very highly ranked school. But to me personally, Hershey was actually great. I loved it.
Also, I finally got an interview invite from Florida State! I'm really glad that I'll potentially have the option of going to one of my state schools.
When I applied so late, I decided that I would feel lucky to get in anywhere. And I still will. But if I were to get accepted to 3 or 4 of the schools I have interviews at so far, I would have a REALLY tough decision on my hands. (Feb. 21)

I liked Florida State. The facilities were GREAT. Apparently, first year classes meet from 1-4 p.m. I know FSU is not everyone's cup of tea, but it is very close to my home, and it is definitely the most affordable place I've interviewed at. If I got a decent financial aid package from Penn St. and I got accepted to FSU also, I don't know what I would do.
I read on SDN that a lot of people got rejections or interview invites to UF today. I've still heard nothing! (Feb. 25)

UF rejection today. I'm going to miss Gainesville. (Mar. 3)

Duke was AWESOME! It's kind of a long shot, but keeping my fingers crossed! Wake interview coming up. I'm excited about seeing the school...I really like what I've seen of Winston-Salem so far. It's completely not what I was expecting.
I'm expecting to get my first post-interview correspondences from a couple of schools any day now. Florida State and EVMS. I'll hear back from Duke by the end of next week or so. I still have a couple of weeks to wait for Penn St. (Mar. 5)

I liked Wake a lot. I won't hear back from them until the end of March or early April. (Mar. 10)

Haven't updated in a couple of weeks, mostly due to a complete lack of activity in my mail box. March 25 and still no acceptance! I know I didn't get in to Duke, and I'm pretty sure I didn't make the waitlist. Should get that letter any day now. Tomorrow is the big Wake Forest adcom meeting. Hopefully that will go well for me. I should also hear back from Penn State sometime in the next week or three. Oh, since the last update, I did get an invite to attend preview weekend at EVMS, which I'm told is a very good indication that I will get in. I wrote Florida State a letter of interest...hopefully I'll hear from them soon too, although they wrote back in response and said basically, 'don't be worried, we are really busy and we may not accept a bunch of people until May.' Patience is truly a virtue.
I've actually been somewhat contemplating the idea of reapplying if I get in, but only to a school that I'm not overly enthusiastic about. Part of me thinks I could be a very successful applicant if I reapplied early, and part of me thinks it would be foolish to turn down ANY offer of admission. I guess it is a good idea to be mentally preparing myself for a reapplication at this point anyway, even though I do still have four decisions pending. (March 26)

My mom called today and seemed kind of down in the dumps. She told me that I had a thin white envelope from Duke. (I had warned her to be expecting it all week.) I had her open it and read the rejection letter. Then, just as we were about to get off the phone, she said, 'Oh yeah, there's a big packet from Penn State here, too.' I got in!! I'm really excited. Really took the sting out of the Duke rejection. It was a long shot anyway, and I never really expected to get into Duke, but I LOVED Penn State, and I was really hoping to get in there. I just wish it were cheaper for OOS. (March 27)

Waitlisted at Wake a couple of days ago. For whatever reason, I still feel like I have a pretty good chance of getting into Wake. The letter said that 35% of the class generally comes from the WL, which I find encouraging. I think I'm going to go to 2nd Look day at Penn State in a couple of weeks. (March 30)

Got the acceptance call from FSU yesterday! I'm very relieved to have the option of staying in state, but I feel really torn between FSU and Penn State. I'll feel even more torn if Wake comes through. I have no idea what I'm going to do at this point. But, I am really excited about meeting some of my potential future classmates at Penn State 2nd Look. (April 1)

Got into EVMS off the WL a few days ago. I'm pretty sure I'm going to withdraw from Penn State (which makes me sad) and EVMS soon. I'll wait to see what happens at Wake, but most likely I'll be at FSU. (April 15)

Unbelievable! Just when I thought I had made the final decision that I was going to FSU, I got an interview invite from South Florida today. I interview on April 21, which is the last day of interviews. I'll find out a decision about 2 or 3 weeks before classes start at FSU. (April 16)

I was placed on USF's waitlist, top third. I decided to withdraw. I am excited about attending FSU, and I will be withdrawing from all other schools soon. I really liked South Florida. If I'd been accepted outright, I would have a tough decision to make, but I can't wait another 2 weeks or more to get in off the WL...that would only leave 2 weeks to make living arrangements at FSU if I decided to go there instead. I can be extremely happy at either school, and I think that it's just worked out so that FSU is the school for me! (April 30)

I dragged my feet about withdrawing from Wake Forest, and was accepted today off the WL. (May 14)
