Summary of Application Experience
I graduated in 2001 and have been working ever since. I did not have enough clinical experience in undergrad, so I decided to delay the application process until I had a good deal of experience. So now I am working 1 full-time job (oncology clinical research), working 1 part-time job (~24 hours per week, nurse assistant with disabled HIV+ patients), volunteering 36-50 hours a month as an EMT, taking flute lessons once a week, taking an English class at UNC, and applying to med school. I am super tired......
MCAT Stuff: I took the MCAT in April 2004. Practice exams: 4R(11P, 10V, 11B); 5R(13P, 10V, 10B); 6R(13P, 10V, 12B); 7(12P, 10V, 12B)
Secondary Applications: I did not submit my 1st secondary application until 7/24/04. A majority of my secondary applications were submitted late August or September. A few (UVA, JHU) were submitted in October.
Accepted: OSU (10/15/04) - Absolutely loved this school. Definite #2 choice. MCW (10/22/04) - Nice school, but a little too far away from home UNC-Chapel Hill (12/6/04) !!Woo Hoo!! #1 choice! Case Western (12/8/04) - I was way impressed and even liked Cleveland (at least the part I was in)
Waitlisted: Jefferson Medical College - Nice school, crazy (but good) interview, not disappointed in waitlist Wake Forest - Great school, excellent location (for me), but some questions about their revised curriculum and the resulting low board scores East Carolina - waitlisted in May, withdrew my application at the same time
Rejected: Vanderbilt (11/10/04) - had bad interview and bad impression of the school, so no surprise Post-secondary (no interview): Harvard, Johns Hopkins, UMiami (unprofessional and rude rejection letter - in April!), Emory
Final Decision..... UNC-Chapel Hill (2005 Men's Basketball Champions)
