Summary of Application Experience
I applied to all six in-state (Ohio) M.D schools. I also applied to all D.O. schools that do not require a physician recommendation.
I did not send out any more secondaries after I received an acceptance. At the University of Cincinnati interview, I felt the school was a very good fit for me. I also went with my interviewer to see a brain get sliced up after my interview.
My NEOUCOM interview was moved up a few days, and we were told that it was the last day for interviewing for spots not waitlist.
It took 8 months from when I first submitted my AMCAS to when I heard about rejections/waitlists/acceptances from all the schools I applied to.
Good luck on your applications, and feel free to contact me.
Re: Thank you! I'm waiting to hear from from U Toledo, but I am planning to decide on a single school ASAP.
Re: Thanks for the luck at the OSU interview! I believe I represented myself as well as I could.
Re: My student interview was amazing, and I believe I convinced the student interviewer that I am a good fit for Wright State. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I'm waitlisted at Wright State because the faculty interviewer asked me why my Biology GPA dropped from 3.9 to 3.1. I have not taken a single Biology at Case Western at all. I performed well on my Honors Biology classes at OSU when I took them with OSU matriculants my senior year of HS. I explained that many of my Biomedical Engineering classes are listed under Biology for AMCAS, so since my Engineering GPA is not comparable to my Biology GPA. The faculty interviewer's response indicated that she was under the impression that I was not academically ready for medical school. I found the school has very nice handicapped accessible facilities, and I like that it is an hour from home.
Re: I am unsure where I am going so far. I would like to hear back from U Toledo before I make a decision.
Re: I haven't made a decision 100% as to where I am going yet, but being close to family is extremely important to me, and my family lives in a suburb of Columbus.
Re: I have been waiting to hear back from all my schools. However, as soon as I am sure that I can graduate this year, I will finalize my status. Fortunately both of the schools I got into are very good fits for me. May 10th is when the final grades are due from our professors.
