Summary of Application Experience

My story: I am a regular joe trying to get into medicine. I applied very late last year. I had two interviews but did not get in. Learning from my mistakes, I applied very early this year. My stats are a bit bellow average so I have to apply to more schools. Comments and suggestions are welcomed. Last year I applied with a 30 MCAT VR7,BS12, PS11. I retook and got a similar MCAT.
6-17 AMCAS verified. 6-28 TMDSAS verified and applications are sent to Texas Schools. 7-14 Finished with 7 OOS schools. Waiting for 8 more secondaries. 7-20 TCOM invitation for August 2. Here we go!!!! 7-23 11 OOS secondaries sent with 7 complete. 8-1 12 OOS secondaries sent. 8-2 Interview with TCOM. The interviews went pretty well. Very relaxing good school. 8-6 No activity yet. Hopefully big things will happen this August. 8-14 First OOS invite. I called EVMS and the office informed me that I was granted an interview. I chose 10-12 date. I could barely contained my happiness with that new. Later that day, I was put on a pre-interview hold at VCU. Overall today was great. 8-15 Just added SUNY Upstate and Wayne State. The averages for these schools are close my stats. 8-26 I sent in my Upstate application and waiting for the Wayne State secondary. As of the end of August, I am complete with all of my Texas schools, complete with 14 out of state schools, and waiting for the Wayne State secondary. I am a little disappointed in Texas. I thought I should have gotten some Texas invites already. Hopefully Texas can show me show love this September. Here we go September. 8-29 Holly ****, I got an invitation to UTSA in the mail. I was gonna write off August but UTSA came through. 9-12 Interview hold at Drexel. It's not looking good. 9-15 Rejection letter from Penn State. I thought I had a chance there. 9-17 Application was put into a smaller pool at MCW. I heard it's a good thing. So far 3 pre-interview holds at VCU, Drexel, and MCW. 9-25 San Antonio interview went very well. Definitely see myself going here. Most of the interview was conversational and I excel in that area. I also nailed the 'Why medicine question' 10-1 Received a hold for 'SUNY Upstate' and George Washington. Too many damn holds. 10-8 Decided to add two DO schools, NYCOM and PCOM. 10-13 Finished the EVMS interview. Maybe the friendliest student body I have ever seen. As for the interview itself, the panel interview was not that scary like I thought. They only asked two ethical questions, and some questions about healthcare. I think I did relatively well. Hopefully that was enough to get me in. 10-22 Emailed Buffalo about decision. They emailed back with a rejection. OUCH!!! 11-1 Called EVMS about decision. Got waitlisted in the upper 1/3. Not good. 2-1 Rejected by the Texas Match. EVMS is my last chance. 3-6 Still on EVMS waitlist. Going to Vietnam tomorrow.
