Summary of Application Experience
6-15-06: Submitted primary.
6-23-06: AMCAS verified; received e-mail notice from U Wisconsin about receipt of primary! First one!
8-9-06: Starting to be complete at some of my schools. It's very exciting.
9-19-06: Interview invite from SUNY Stony Brook. The first one!!! What a relief.
9-26-06: Interview at SUNY Stony Brook. I think the day went pretty well. I liked both of my interviewers, both good conversationalists, down to earth, not too high-stress. The students seem to be big fans of the school and program. The MS3 giving the tour was really energetic and positive. The facilities leave a little to be desired, but if the people and faculty are great, that's all I care about.
10-2-06: Interview invite from SUNY Buffalo. They're showing some Buffalove. Got to love the hometown school.
10-10-06: Interview invite from Case Western. I love that they love my research.
10-18-06: Interview at SUNY Buffalo. What a great day. They really did an amazing job presenting the school to the interviewees. Everyone that I met and talked with loved the school and the program. I honestly wasn't expecting too much since I never would have considered UB for undergrad, but it has definitely moved to the top of my list for med school. It would be so cheap to attend, to live, and it would be nice to be near family. Excited for some mail from them in the next few weeks.
10-24-06: Waitlisted by UB. This makes me sad because after going on my interview, I loved the school. Hopefully I'm at the top of the waitlist.
11-14-06: Interview at Case. Getting to Cleveland was a nightmare and I was super tired for my entire interview day, but I think it went pretty well. The MS1s all seemed to love the new curriculum, although I guess there are still some kinks in it. The University Hospitals are gorgeous and there is endless opportunity to get involved with anything you want, as long as you're somewhat proactive in asking faculty. My student interviewer was really friendly and laidback, very low pressure kind of guy. I think we got along pretty well. My faculty interviewer was really hard to read, which made me somewhat uncomfortable, and kind of unsure of myself and how I came across. Case is my number one choice at this point so I'm hoping for some good news in about 10 days. I would give just about anything to go here.
11-28-06: Waitlisted by Case and Stony Brook on the same day. Awesome. Now it's just a waiting game I guess. This process blows.
