Summary of Application Experience
I applied MD/PhD everywhere. If I had to do it all over again, I would have applied earlier, but in the long run I don't think it would have made any difference since I got in to Penn.
After interviewing, my ranking of the schools was: 1) Penn 2) Yale 3) Duke 4) Hopkins 5) WashU 6) Rochester 7) Wisconsin 8) Buffalo
Since I liked Penn so much better than the other schools, selecting where to go was a pretty easy decision, and knowing about my acceptance early made the interviewing process go much easier. Although Penn claims not to tell anyone of their status prior to late March, the MSTP, at least, does make exceptions.
