Summary of Application Experience
The application process was a bit of a rollercoaster ride... the highs of getting 8 interviews and then the low of getting waitlists and rejections. I kept an optimistic yet realistic mindset the entire time, always hoping that I would realize my goal of going to a top-ranked school. I got a merit scholarship to Indiana, my state school, but this wasn't enough to make me want to go there. Most of the summer, I was waitlisted at Wash U and Duke, my 2 top choices, and I stayed in periodic contact with them. Wash U was always a lot nicer to me when I attempted to find out my status (although they wouldn't ever tell me; they do not rank their waitlist). I finally wrote the director of admissions an email saying I was still very interested and was considering not matriculating to the school where I had planned on going after the May 15th deadline. About half a week later, I got a phone call saying I'd been accepted, and it was time to move to St. Louis. I'm so thrilled to be going to Wash U!
